• S5 Ep28 God's Infinite Love, The Book of Job for the Current Age
    Oct 22 2026
We do a little housekeeping following our adventure in riffing about the KJV and then on to the Book of Job. We note that all scripture is profitable as we look at the life of this man (outside the Law). God's words seem harsh on first blush, but when we look at our own lives and loves, we can start to see how God's love exceeds all.

The context the book is Satan's torment of this righteous man. yet when we learn to trust God, the source of situation does not matter in the end. Whether we are being chastised by Lord or if the Lord allows the enemy to assault us, the only answer is to turn to God and to his perfect Word. But when we do this, we must "rightly divide the word of truth" (2 Tim 2:15) lest we end up where we do not want to be when called to account.

Some find solace in religion. This can be deceptive. The external miseries may be covered, but true restoration and the path to the prize of the high calling may remain obscured.

  • S5 Ep27 How the KJV has Damaged Individual Bible Study
    Oct 10 2026
Just riffing on several ways the King James Version has damaged individual Christian Bible study. It's particularly worse than a number of other translations, but it's the only one that has people and pastors and schools claiming it is inspired (in English) and infallible. One irony is that it's printed as the "1611" KJB. Well, the 1611 version contained the Apocrypha and it was actually changed early in because of an error in translating one verse in the Psalms. If you have an actual 1611 version, it has that error and it has the Apocrypha.

It's not a "Satanic" bible. It's fine. But it's hardly perfect. I just spit out a number of doctrines it obscures and odd choices in word selection. The men translating it were replacement theologians and their work is colored by that assumption as well as by being the bible for a state church.

Here are the relevant verses, in order of reference, for those wondering (and this is just a brief list of the problems throughout the whole of the translation):
    • Ephesians 3:8-9

    • Titus 1:2

    • Galatians 1:4-5

    • 1 Corinthians 15:55

    • John 1:12

    • Matthew 8:12

    • Acts 2:38

    • Acts 4:8

    • Acts 5:3

    • John 11:11-14

    • Luke 23:43

    • Psalm 69:2

The cover slide on the YT video version shows a man walking through a minefield. I've covered this topic previously from a different angle and I know I'm touching the third rail. People who embrace ecumenicalism and Rome get less backlash than anyone questioning the KJV! Anecdotally, that's another reason we need to end this blind allegiance to the idea that the KJV is inspired.

And I didn't even mention the soul/life error that has caused so much heresy.

  • S5 Ep26 Columbus Day, Lynching, and the Great Idea that is America
    Sep 27 2026
Columbus Day is a celebrated holiday for Italian Americans. But many do not know the story behind the holiday and why it was created. We cannot compare the struggle of Italian-Americans with the struggle of black Americans, but we can say that a black American today is far better off than an Italian immigrant in the late 19th century. But America is not a story of grievances, it is the story of a unique Republic, built o the idea and ideals of liberty. It is that ideal that I embrace, despite the actions of individuals and even local governments throughout our nation.

The largest lynching in US history was of 11 Italian in 1891. The Tuskegee Institute reveal that about 27% of all lynchings in the US between 1882-1968 were of "white" people. Between 1890 and 1910 about 40% of all lynchings were of Italian-Americans. Italians made up about 4% of the population at that time. In many government statistical categories, Italians from southern Italy as well as Sicilians were not considered "white." They had their own category ("Italian, Southern").

When Columbus Day was displaced in many places across the nation to make room for newer holidays, a part of history was lost. But I am a proud American who has embraced the idea that is America. As Ronald Reagan noted (quoting President Lincoln), America is 'the last, best hope of Earth.'

If the powers within our borders that hate our Founding, our system, and our ideals succeed to destroy this nation, the world will enter a dark age it cannot imagine. There is reason the whole world is trying to come here by an means possible, and it's not because they've left homeland's Nirvana to try and make us better.

  • S5 Ep25 Three Things We Are Instructed to Strive For As Believers
    Sep 15 2026
Paul writes to us in this age to work to keep or work to achieve three specific things. One God has created and asks us to maintain, another is something we have to work to create, the last is necessary for God's approval of our doctrine and service. Ephesians 4, 2 Timothy 3

  • S5 Ep24 Delight Yourself in Psalm 1 (Rightly Divided)
    Sep 11 2026
We walk through the wonderful opening Psalm. As we look at its treasured thoughts, we are careful to rightly divide the passage. That is, we do as we always must do with scripture, we interpret it according to our current calling.

Practicing right division (2 Tim 2:15) robs us of nothing. It allows us to meditate on all of God's word according to the calling to which we have been called in this age (Eph 4:1). Unlike those who say they embrace all of scripture (when they actually just pick and choose what they prefer to pick and choose), right division teaches us to truly find all of God's word profitable while avoiding taking things that do not belong to us.

Finally, for 8624th time, I ask a ministry trying to put all of us today under the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew if they're willing to obey Matthew 5:42. And we get the usual result.

  • S5 Ep23 Misinterpretation of Hebrews 9:27 Suggests Dolly is the Heart of Torturewood
    Sep 9 2026
We briefly explore the misuse of God hating divorce from Malachi in light of the Netflix docuseries, "Death of the Pastor's Wife." We then move on to Ken Ham's out-of-context use of Hebrews 9:27 ("It is appointed unto men once to die," etc.) regarding the eternal state of all people, particularly in light of Dolly Parton's recent passing (RIP). He makes clear that he can't read her heart (that's good) but then goes on apply Heb 9:27 to her and to all of us (that's bad). It's said in the context of Dolly's stated acceptance of the idea of reincarnation, but, by extension, applied to the her eternal fate. We break down the passage in its context to discover who is dying in that verse and what judgment is referenced. #theologypodcast #theology #biblestudy

He brings a new version of visiting the smokies.

I do want to state that while I vehemently disagree with Ken Ham on his understanding of Hebrews 9:27, the state of the dead, and exactly what scripture teaches about Hades ("hell"), I do like that he presents Christ as the perfect and complete and sufficient sacrifice for sin. I'm not his judge either. But I can approve of that particular part of his message.

"And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name." -John 20:30-31

  • S5 Ep22 The Bible Character You Are Most Like is YOU! #theologypodcast
    Aug 8 2026
You can take an online quiz which purports to tell you which Bible character you are. Spoiler: none of them. Now, you are in the same hope as a few, but very few. The Bible has one way to resurrection life, but it also has different hopes, different callings, and a different race for each of us. Along the way, we talk a little about my Poseidon Adventure theology lesson and point out (again) the evil of the clergy/laity system. I wonder how many men get Bathsheba or Tamar as their Bible twin!

  • S5 Ep21 A Walk Through Psalm 139 for the Present Age
    Jul 14 2026
We examine the Psalm of David wherein he starts noting the Lord searches his heart and knows him intimately. The King finishes with him imploring the Lord to not only search him, but then lead him in the way of the age. A beautiful and comforting song of love.
