Your breath is one of the few parts of the autonomic nervous system you can consciously influence — and sometimes, a small shift is enough.
In this episode of Calm by Lane: Meditation for Life, I share the simple breathing practice I kept returning to during my recovery from autonomic collapse, chronic fatigue, Long COVID, EBV reactivation, and dysautonomia. We’ll explore why bigger breaths aren’t necessarily better, how a comfortable longer exhale can influence autonomic regulation, and why repetition matters when you’re helping the nervous system learn a different pattern.
Then we practice together: a gentle inhale, a longer unforced exhale, and a few minutes to give the body a little more space to settle.
No heroic breath holds. No complicated breathwork. Just breath, body, and practice.
