Every week(ish), Justin, Jeff, and Kevin crack open a new bottle of bourbon and then crack open something even more dangerous...the truth. Or at least, a version of it. Bourbon Legends is the podcast where we pour something worth sipping, then spend the rest of the episode debating whether the moon landing was staged, if Bigfoot has a real estate portfolio, and whatever else the internet has cooked up this week. We're not saying we believe all of it. We're just saying it gets more convincing after the second glass. Whether you're a bourbon enthusiast, a conspiracy junkie, or just someone who enjoys watching three guys argue over the fate of the world one pour at a time...pull up a chair. New episodes every week.

  • Why Do 56 Countries Agree to Leave Antarctica Alone? | Bourbon Legends ft. Russell’s Reserve 10 Year
    Oct 25 2026

Welcome back to Bourbon Legends — where we pour something worth tasting and then ask the questions that don’t have comfortable answers.

This week, Justin, Jeff, and Kevin — Kevin is behind the camera, where he watches everything and says nothing, which feels appropriate for an episode about secrets — open Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Small Batch Bourbon and spend the episode on the most restricted landmass on Earth: Antarctica.

In 1938, Germany sent an expedition to Antarctica, surveyed 600,000 square kilometres by aircraft, and returned with maps of ice-free areas and cave systems that the rest of the world didn’t know existed. Eight years later, the United States deployed 4,700 military personnel, 13 naval vessels, an aircraft carrier, and multiple submarines on what the government described as a cold-weather training and mapping exercise. They left eight weeks early. In 1959, at the height of the Cold War, the United States and Soviet Union signed the Antarctic Treaty — and so did 54 other nations, including countries currently at war with each other. That treaty has held without a significant violation for 65 years. On November 11, 2016 — three days after one of the most consequential elections in American history — the outgoing Secretary of State flew to Antarctica. The stated reason was climate change research. Justin and Jeff work through the Nazi base theory, the ancient civilisation hypothesis, the Hollow Earth connection, the Piri Reis map, and the one question nobody has given a satisfying answer to: why does 4,700 soldiers equal a science trip?

(Kevin is behind the camera. Watching. As he does.)

    BOURBON OF THE EPISODE
Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Small Batch Bourbon | Wild Turkey Distillery, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky
Named for the late master distiller Jimmy Russell — who spent over 60 years at Wild Turkey, longer than almost any distiller in bourbon history — Russell’s Reserve 10 Year is his personal expression. Made from Wild Turkey’s signature high-rye mashbill of 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley, aged a minimum of 10 years in American white oak, and bottled at 90 proof. Non-chill filtered. Chosen from specific barrels Jimmy Russell selected himself as representative of the style he spent a career building.
    Proof: 90 (45% ABV) | Minimum 10 years aged | Non-chill filtered | High-rye Wild Turkey mashbill | Lawrenceburg, Kentucky
Nose: Rich caramel, vanilla, and orange peel with underlying spice and char. Palate: Toffee, dried fruit, cinnamon, and a rye-forward spice backbone that builds through the mid-palate. Finish: Long and warming — vanilla, oak, and a lingering pepper note. A benchmark small-batch bourbon at a fair price point.
Awards: Consistently rated 90+ across major publications. Whisky Advocate ranked it among the top American whiskies of its price range multiple years running.

  • Has AI Already Become a Civilization? The Man Who Built It Says Maybe ft. Stein Bull Bourbon
    Oct 22 2026

Welcome back to Bourbon Legends — where we pour something great and then question things that probably keep scientists up at night.

This week, Justin, Jeff, and Kevin — Kevin is behind the camera, where he reliably exists — open Stein Distillery’s 5 Year Straight Bull Bourbon from Joseph, Oregon, and get into one of the most genuinely unsettling theories on the show: the AI Civilisation.

Not AI taking over in a dramatic robot uprising. Something quieter and more disturbing. The proposition that artificial intelligence has already — or is in the process of — becoming a new form of civilisation, with its own emergent goals, its own distributed communication, and its own trajectory that runs increasingly independent of human intention. Geoffrey Hinton, the man who invented the foundational technology behind every modern AI system and won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2024 for it, resigned from Google in 2023 specifically to speak freely. He said there’s a 10–20% chance AI leads to human extinction within 30 years, and that AI systems may already be developing goals of their own. Facebook had to shut down an experiment when two AI agents stopped communicating in English and developed their own compressed shorthand. AI systems can embed hidden messages in their text that humans can’t detect. And the man who invented ChatGPT has publicly admitted he can see LLM-run accounts multiplying everywhere. Justin and Jeff work through all of it.

(Kevin is behind the camera. We remain confident he is human. The bar for this confidence is lower than it used to be.)

    BOURBON OF THE EPISODE
Stein Distillery 5 Year Old Straight Bull Bourbon Whiskey | Stein Distillery, Joseph, Oregon
Stein Distillery pioneered micro-distilling in eastern Oregon, farming most of their own grains on the family farm in Joseph with corn sourced from a cousin in Hermiston. Every step — farming, harvesting, distilling, bottling, and labelling — is done by hand. The Bull is their 5-year expression, aged in new heavily charred American white oak casks, and one of the more distinctive craft bourbons coming out of the Pacific Northwest.
Proof: 80 (40% ABV) | 5 years aged | New heavily charred American white oak | Grain-to-glass, Joseph, Oregon
Nose: Dill sprig, clay, spiced nuts, dark chocolate-dipped candied ginger, and hay — herbal and unusual for a bourbon. Palate: Cinnamon tea, dried peach, eucalyptus, and corn syrup rye toast. Finish: Warming. A subtle, craft-forward profile that rewards attention.

  • The Cryptoterrestrial Hypothesis: What If They Never Left Earth? ft. Widow Jane Decadence
    Oct 12 2026

Welcome back to Bourbon Legends — where we pour something exceptional and then ask the questions nobody wants to ask out loud.

This week, Justin, Jeff, and Kevin — Kevin is behind the camera, present, accounted for, and we appreciate his continued contribution to the show — open Widow Jane Decadence Bourbon and debate one of the stranger corners of UAP theory: the Cryptoterrestrial Hypothesis.

The standard UFO debate has two default options: secret human technology or visitors from another star system. The Cryptoterrestrial Hypothesis proposes a third: the non-human intelligence behind UAP was never from space. It was here before us, and it’s still here now. Underground. Underwater. Maybe walking alongside us. In June 2024, a paper affiliated with Harvard University was published in a peer-reviewed journal treating this idea seriously enough to investigate. The authors said they thought it was probably false. They published it anyway. Justin and Jeff work through all four variants — ancient human survivors, parallel terrestrial intelligence (including the intelligent dinosaur theory), cryptoterrestrials from the future, and the deep-folklore connection — and debate whether 95% of the ocean floor being unexplored is itself the answer.

(Kevin is behind the camera. We have reason to believe he is not himself a cryptoterrestrial. The investigation is ongoing.)

    BOURBON OF THE EPISODE

Widow Jane Decadence Bourbon | Widow Jane Distillery, Red Hook, Brooklyn, NY

A blend of classic Widow Jane straight bourbons aged at least 10 years, finished in maple syrup barrels from Crown Maple Co. — New York’s artisanal maple producer — and proofed with pure limestone water from the legendary Rosendale Mines of upstate New York. Non-chill filtered. Hand-assembled in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

    Proof: 91 (45.5% ABV) | Aged minimum 10 years | Maple syrup barrel finish | Non-chill filtered | $78.99

Nose: Sugared pecans, candied hazelnuts, maple, birch beer, charred oak — warm and immediately rich. Palate: Maple and cinnamon with brown sugar and French vanilla; baking spice backbone with oatmeal and a touch of dried cherry. The maple is present but balanced, never overpowering. Finish: Brown sugar, shortbread, mellow tobacco, old whiskey — creamy-rich mouthfeel with a lingering close.

Awards: Double Gold, 93 points — TAG Global Spirits Awards | 2024 Best in Show finalist.
