A proposito di questo titolo
Spencer and Dave are continuing the Vietnam War Trilogy from film maker Oliver Stone, with the 2nd movie, Born on the Fourth of July from 1989. Starring Tom Cruise in what might be his mightiest performance ever, at least for the drama department with other actors including Willem Dafoe, Kyra Sedgwick, and Tom Berenger just to name a few. It's an award-winning movie that literally deserves it as you are going through the real life, true story experience of Ron Kovic, who Tom Cruise plays and whose book the movie is based off of. The movie also contains one of the greatest, if maybe the only, wheelchair battles in history with Tom Cruise and Willem Dafoe duking it out.
The story follows Ron Kovic, a fiercely patriotic young man who eagerly enlists to fight in the Vietnam War, believing deeply in American ideals of honor and sacrifice. Severely wounded in combat and paralyzed from the chest down, Ron returns home to a country that seems unwilling to acknowledge either his suffering or the war’s moral cost. As he struggles with physical pain, survivor’s guilt, and neglect within the Veterans Administration system, his faith in the government and the war steadily erodes. Over time, Ron transforms from a flag-waving Marine into a passionate anti-war activist, channeling his anger and trauma into protest. The film charts his painful journey from idealism to disillusionment, ultimately portraying a man who reclaims his voice by confronting the very system he once trusted without question.
