Arranged vs Love Marriage Punjabi | Attachment Theory Punjabi | Relationship Science |

Here's what almost nobody in that debate has ever asked: what if the type of marriage was never the real variable?

In this episode, Sukhdeep and Jugraj take apart the arranged-vs-love debate and show why it's actually the wrong question. A securely attached person in an arranged marriage will thrive. An anxiously attached person in a love marriage will struggle, regardless of how the couple met. The real predictor of whether a marriage works has almost nothing to do with how it started, and almost everything to do with something psychology has been able to measure for decades.

Through Columbia University psychiatrist Dr. Amir Levine's research on adult attachment, this episode explains the three ways people show up in relationships, anxious, avoidant, and secure, and why our own Punjabi upbringing may be quietly training an entire generation into one of these patterns before marriage ever enters the picture. The izzat-sehna framework that shapes how Punjabi boys and girls are raised isn't just cultural, it has a measurable psychological signature, and this episode names it directly.

    Topics covered:

    - Why the arranged vs love marriage debate has been asking the wrong question all along

    - The three attachment styles, anxious, avoidant, secure and how to recognize yours and your partner's

    - How izzat and sehna, taught differently to Punjabi sons and daughters, shape adult attachment patterns

    - What actually predicts whether any marriage โ€” arranged or love โ€” succeeds long-term

    - A real, practical way to shift an insecure attachment pattern toward secure

His mother was gone. All of a sudden. No warning, no last phone call, no chance to say what he needed to say.

He asked us one question: how do you control a heart and a brain that won't stop breaking?

We couldn't answer that in one line. So we didn't try to. Instead, Sukhdeep and Jugraj spent this whole episode taking his exact pain apart piece by piece through neuroscience, psychology, and Gurbani.

What they found: his brain wasn't malfunctioning. It was doing exactly what a healthy brain is built to do after losing someone it mapped as permanent and that process has a name, a mechanism, and a documented medical twin most people have never heard of.

His chest pain wasn't "just grief" either. There's a real cardiac condition with his mother's death as its exact trigger profile one that mimics a heart attack down to the symptoms, while his arteries stay completely clear.

And the advice everyone around him kept repeating stay strong, don't cry, she wouldn't want to see you like this turns out to be almost the opposite of what the actual research says should happen next.

This episode is built entirely around his comment, read in his own words, because his story isn't rare. It's every son and daughter in our community who has lost a parent without warning and been told to just move on.

What if the man the world calls either a god or a fraud was actually both right and wrong and science can now prove exactly where?

In this Punjabi science podcast episode, Sukhdeep and Jugraj examine Osho critically separating what neuroscience has since validated from what was pseudoscience dressed as spirituality. Real peer-reviewed science: Dynamic Meditation's effect on cortisol (Bansal et al., 2015), Witnessing and Metacognition validated by fMRI and Default Mode Network research, Zorba the Buddha and Somatic Experiencing. Then the honest reckoning: Kirlian aura photography, astrology (Carlson, Nature 1985), and the claims that don't hold up.

    Topics covered:

    - Who was Osho before the ashrams, and where the science actually backs him

    - The neuroscience of Witnessing (Sakshi) Default Mode Network and fMRI evidence

    - Dynamic Meditation and the 2015 Lucknow cortisol study

    - Where he was wrong Kirlian photography, astrology, and the Barnum Effect

    - What Gurbani's concept of เจตเจฟเจตเฉ‡เจ• (discernment) teaches about weighing any guru or book

  • The Hidden Cause of Addiction | Science's shocking truth
    Jun 28 2026

๐Ÿšจ SHOCKING REVELATION: What neuroscience and trauma research reveal about the real cause of addiction!

From the villages of Punjab to the basements of Brampton, the addiction crisis is deeply misunderstood. In this emotional and scientifically grounded episode of the Jeevan Jaanch Podcast, Jugraj and Sukhdeep break down why everything society believes about addiction is completely backwards.

โœ… Why addiction is not a moral weakness, but a desperate attempt to medicate deep emotional pain.

โœ… The truth about Dopamine: It is not the "happiness" chemical, but the "wanting" chemical that drives cravings.

โœ… The groundbreaking ACE Study (Adverse Childhood Experiences) showing how childhood trauma can increase the risk of injection drug use by up to 46 times.

โœ… The legendary "Rat Park" experiment and why the opposite of addiction is not sobriety it is *connection*.

โœ… Proven, science-backed strategies for parents, friends, and those struggling (including the CRAFT method, Urge Surfing, and Harm Reduction).

๐Ÿ“š BASED ON: The profound clinical research from Dr. Gabor Matรฉ's masterpiece, *In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts*, combined with peer-reviewed neuroscience and the wisdom of Gurbani (Trishna and Santokh).

    ๐Ÿ”ฌ **TOPICS COVERED:

The neurobiology of reward systems and how drugs hijack our brain's natural bonding chemicals.

How deep isolation, migration struggles, and cultural shame fuel addiction instead of curing it.

The physical changes in the brain's prefrontal cortex that destroy willpower (hypofrontality).

Actionable tools for "Social Buffering" to support a struggling friend or family member without judging them.

โš ๏ธ DISCLAIMER: This episode is for educational purposes only and does not constitute medical or treatment advice. If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, please reach out to professional helplines immediately.

    ๐Ÿ’ก KEY TAKEAWAYS:

Learn why shaming someone for their addiction actually serves as "fuel" that pushes them deeper into the cycle.

Understand the "Urge Surfing" technique: how to ride out intense cravings for 20-30 minutes until they pass.

Discover how to be a "Park" (a safe space of connection) for someone trapped in a "Cage" of isolation.

Avoid the fatal mistake of focusing only on the drug; instead, learn to ask, "Why the pain?"

๐Ÿšจ SHOCKING REVELATION: What peer-reviewed toxicology and metabolic science reveal about your daily Punjabi diet and household habits!

You might look fit and go to the gym, but are you rotting on the inside? In this explosive episode of the Jeevan Jaanch Podcast, Jugraj and Sukhdeep dive deep into the terrifying reality of "Lean Diabetes". We uncover why South Asians carry nearly 60% of the world's heart disease burden and face an 8x higher risk of diabetes in Canada.

We are deconstructing the biggest lies holding our community back: the "Naturalistic Fallacy" (believing everything old/desi is perfectly safe) and the blind fear of everything modern. Discover what is actually causing your "Allostatic Load" (total toxic burden) to overflow:

โœ… Why Gur (Jaggery) is essentially just sugar (~80-85% sucrose) and is frequently cleaned with household bleach (sodium hypochlorite).

โœ… The Pink Salt Scam: How abandoning iodized salt is silently destroying your thyroid and bringing back old diseases.

โœ… The Ghee Paradox: Why eating excessive Desi Ghee while living a sedentary lifestyle creates a deadly "Metabolic Mismatch".

โœ… Why cooking your Roti directly on the gas flame causes pyrolysis, creating dangerous carcinogens (PAHs and HCAs).

โœ… The surprising scientific truth that keeping *Atta* in the fridge (cold fermentation) actually breaks down gluten and makes your roti healthier and easier to digest!

๐Ÿ“š BASED ON: Peer-reviewed metabolic, nutritional, and toxicology research, exploring the themes of Darin Olienโ€™s Fatal Conveniences.

    ๐Ÿ”ฌ TOPICS COVERED:

The true science behind Microwave ovens (Why non-ionizing radiation is perfectly safe and preserves vitamins).

    The copper bottle scam.

    The pink salt scam.

    Why iodine is important.

โš ๏ธ This isn't your typical health podcast. We challenge everything you think you know about "Desi" traditions and modern conveniences using strictly peer-reviewed science.

    ๐Ÿ’ก KEY TAKEAWAYS:

Stop falling for the "Naturalistic Fallacy"; sugar and jaggery trigger identical insulin responses in the body.

Protect your thyroid by ensuring your primary household salt contains iodine.

Drastically reduce your cancer risk by cooking your roti completely on a *tawa* instead of directly on the open gas flame.

Lower your overall toxic burden (Allostatic Load) by questioning the hidden chemicals in scented detergents and room fresheners.
