    Feb 27 2026

Join hosts Michael Barr and Vanessa Perdomo for a look at some of the latest headlines and stories in the business of sports.

Despite assurances from President Claudia Sheinbaum and her security minister this week that Mexico was returning to normal after a weekend of cartel violence, many vacationers to Puerto Vallarta and other cities still faced canceled flights and shelter-in-place warnings.

The travel disruptions began Sunday as criminal groups set up blockades, burned vehicles and attacked businesses in retaliation for the capture and killing of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, Mexico’s most wanted drug kingpin. Foreign governments including Canada and the US issued travel advisories and shelter-in-place recommendations for citizens traveling in the country, and dozens of flights were canceled to parts of Mexico.

  • Instant Reaction: MSG Sports Considering Spinning Off New York Knicks, Rangers
    Feb 18 2026

Madison Square Garden Sports Corp.’s board of directors approved a plan to explore spinning off the NBA’s New York Knicks and NHL’s New York Rangers, a move that would make it easier to attract investors to the teams.

Bloomberg's Randall Williams has the details and joined Tom Keene and Paul Sweeney on Bloomberg Surveillance.

Randall notes that few sports conglomerates are worth more than the combined value of the Knicks and Rangers, who both play at Madison Square Garden, one of the most famous arenas in the world. Sportico values the Knicks at $9.85 billion, third in the NBA. The Rangers are worth $3.65 billion, second in the NHL behind the Toronto Maple Leafs.
