  • Bloody Good Screen: Movie Club - Sam Neill Special: Possession and Event Horizon
    Sep 9 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

This week on Bloody Good Screen, we’re celebrating the life and career of the legendary Sam Neill with a very special double bill: Possession (1981) and Event Horizon (1997).

Two very different films, two very different performances, and two occasions where Sam Neill finds himself having an absolutely fucking terrible time.

From the raw, disturbing madness of Possession to the cosmic nightmare of Event Horizon, we look back at two of Neill’s most memorable genre performances and discuss what made him such a brilliant and versatile actor.

We talk body horror, psychological horror, Hell in space, collapsing relationships, giant squid-like nightmares, lost footage, WTF moments and, of course, the question we’ve been asking all night:

Which Sam Neill character had the worst day?

It’s also a particularly special episode for us, as we head towards Taz’s final appearance with the Screen team. There’s plenty of the usual chaos, laughs and questionable opinions, but also a chance to celebrate the time we’ve had together behind the microphones.

So pour yourself a drink, settle in, and join us as we say goodbye to one incredible actor while enjoying two absolutely fucking bonkers films.

Sam Neill. Two films. One very bad week.

  • Bloody Good Screen: Movie Club - Good Boy (not that one....or that one) & A Quiet Place: Day One
    Jul 27 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

We're back! And this time we're taking on not one, but TWO slices of horror goodness.

First up, we're heading over to Disney+ for the surprisingly creepy short Good Boy. It's proof that sometimes you don't need a massive budget, a two-hour runtime or 47 different explosions to make something properly unsettling. Sometimes all you need is a dog… and for things to go horribly, horribly wrong.

Then it's time to head back to the beginning with A Quiet Place: Day One, as we find out what happened when those lovely little sound-sensitive bastards first decided to turn up in New York and ruin everyone's day.

But does Day One manage to capture the tension of the original? Is Good Boy actually any good? And why are we still making terrible decisions when there's clearly something outside trying to kill us?

Join Mark and the gang as we get stuck into both films, have a good old chat, and inevitably wander off on a few tangents along the way.

So grab your headphones, keep the noise down and whatever you do… DON'T MAKE A SOUND!

  • Bloody Good Reads - Chapter 114 - Vincent Ralph
    Jun 14 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

This week on Bloody Good Reads I’m joined by one of the most exciting names in modern YA horror and thriller fiction, Vincent Ralph, author of 14 Ways to Die, Lock the Doors, Secrets Never Die and One House Left.

We dive deep into the dark side of storytelling, discussing slashers, serial killers, horror movies, plot twists and why YA horror is absolutely exploding right now. Vincent also talks about his writing process, building tension, creating killers readers love to fear, and the pressure of keeping audiences guessing right until the final page.

Expect plenty of horror chat, writing talk, creepy inspirations, book recommendations and behind-the-scenes discussion on some of the biggest YA thrillers around right now.

If you’re into horror books, thriller novels, murder mysteries, slasher movies, suspense fiction or just love hearing authors talk passionately about the genre, this is an episode you won’t want to miss. Perfect for fans of Stephen King, Holly Jackson, Karen McManus and modern horror fiction.
