Welcome to Black Dogs [Part 1]. A short novel born from a fever dream—surreal, unsettling, and impossible to forget.John Matthews is not the kind of man you notice. He is painfully awkward, a housekeeper at a sprawling family-owned manor where his presence is tolerated rather than welcomed. He moves through the halls like a ghost, scrubbing floors and polishing silver, invisible to the wealthy guests who pass through. His life is routine. Quiet. Forgettable. Then he meets Haze Borden. She is everything he is not—sharp-witted, fearless, and blessed with talents that seem to blur the line between the ordinary and the impossible. Daughter of Nebraska Governor Max Borden, Haze carries a title that precedes her everywhere. But it is her affinity for the paranormal that truly sets her apart. She sees things others do not. She knows things she should not. And against all logic, she seems drawn to the quiet, awkward housekeeper.Against all odds, they hit it off. But this may not be their first meeting. As John and Haze grow closer, the edges of reality begin to fray. Strange memories surface—memories that do not belong to either of them. Time seems to skip and stutter. Shadows stretch in ways that defy physics. And something sinister is pulling the strings, puppeting the lives of everyone in the manor. Something that does not want them to remember. Something that will do whatever it takes to ensure no one steps out of line. What is real? What has been left behind? And what is lurking in the darkness, waiting for the moment they step too far? This is Black Dogs. A story of memory, identity, and the terrifying possibility that some doors should never be opened. Press play—if you dare.
