A proposito di questo titolo
Reacting to Change can cause fear and doubt, but with my social awareness, technology skills, and Philosophy of Change, I overcame those feelings during a recent challenge. Here's how I got to where I am today.
Have you ever been faced with a challenge that created a big change in your professional or personal life? My Philosophy of Change is that challenges are not setbacks but steppingstones, and each new difficulty empowers me to grow stronger and closer to my purpose. Change can bring fear and doubt when it becomes challenging. While change can bring uncertainty, taking on two jobs pushed me to make a bold decision that impacted both my work and personal life.
I chose to further my education to start a business helping people re-enter the workforce after facing their challenges. O’boy, now with two jobs and school added to my schedule, I felt overwhelmed when I saw my FAFSA approval and class enrollment email. Questions flooded my mind: Am I too old for this? Will I remember what I learned before? How will I juggle work and classes?
Using technology, I discovered that others share similar experiences. To manage my time better, I found a UC Davis blog, "The Psychology of Change," where Tamara Trejos explains that change can feel unsettling because it disrupts our stability, but connecting change to a deeper purpose helps us progress. My goal to start a business motivated me to push past fear. On my first day of class, I realized I needed to learn 10 important skills, this added even more to my challenges.
Second Point (1–3 minutes)
Framing Change: How do you apply skills like problem solving, technology, self and social awareness, productivity, initiative, communication, relationship building, innovation, and agility when facing challenges in work, life, or study? While I haven't mastered all ten, I use them daily—often unconsciously—and learned most through my education.
Becoming self- and socially aware has improved my relationships with classmates, while technology skills have enhanced my problem-solving abilities during research. Taking initiative helped me pursue my goals, and strong communication has made me more productive and innovative in managing my time. Altogether, these skills have taught me to be agile across educational, personal, and professional areas.
In "The Educated," I, like Westover, had to learn new skills—specifically time management—to balance my responsibilities and progress. Change isn't just about overcoming fear; it's about reshaping identity through discipline. For me, education is a way to redefine myself and work toward my goal of running a business that helps others.
Third Point (1–3 minutes)
Managing Change: My final point is the 10 skills and Philosophy of Change work together to create success in achieving my educational goals and prepare me for success in business. Over time I realized I rely heavily on these skills. I have learned and continue to use them on a day-to-day basis. Today when I am faced with a challenge, it no longer feels intimidating instead I feel empowered knowing that the challenge is an opportunity to strengthen my skills and move closer to my dreams. What once felt overwhelming has become proof that change, though difficult, can lead to growth and purpose when managed with determination and clear goals.
Remember when faced with a challenge it's okay to feel fear or doubt just think that is a chance to empower yourself with excepting it, embrace it, and learn from it. Like Chris Gardener played by Will Smith in "The Pursuit of Happiness" he tells his son, "You got a dream, you got to protect it". "If you want something, go get it". "Period".
Conclusion (less than 1 minute) My Philosophy of Change and the 10 skills work together to support my achievements in education and business. By using these skills regularly, I now challenge change with focus and determination, turning difficulties into opportunities for meaningful growth.
Remember my Philosophy of Change is that challenges are not setbacks but steppingstones, and each new difficulty empowers you to grow stronger and move closer to your purpose or goals. I challenge you to use the 10 skills to guide you along your Philosophy of change. Thank you.Copyright Podcraftr
