Braiding your hair with a whispered intention sounds simple, but it opens a door into a whole world of fiber magic. We’re joined by Loren Morris, a traditional witch, owner of Primitive Witchery in Kingsport, Tennessee, and author of The Crafty Witch’s Guide to Cord Magic. Loren talks about cord magic as a living, hands-on practice: not just tying knots, but building a spell you can see, touch, and return to.

We get into what makes a spell cord feel different from a candle spell that disappears overnight. Loren explains how layering components like charms, beads, herbs, stones, printed images, and sigils turns the crafting into the ritual itself, helping you stay focused and intentional through every step. We also talk about how long cords can take to make, why that time matters, and why cord magic can be especially supportive if you want a more meditative approach or you struggle to stay locked in on one method.

From there, we go practical: how we “feed” and maintain cords over time by repeating the original activation steps, tracking moon signs, moon phases, and planetary hours. We explore Samhain themed ideas for fall cords, then weave in rune magic, including beginner guidance for working with Elder Futhark runes before attempting bindrunes. Finally, we pivot into simmer pot magic, including cozy seasonal ingredient ideas and how to strain the leftover water into a home spray, floor wash, or bath addition.

Tattoos can be art, memory, armor, prayer, or pure fun, but what happens when you treat ink as a living spiritual tool. I’m joined by Jake Morningstar, founder and high priest of Diamond Eye Coven, to unpack tattoo magick as real-world spellwork you can do with healed tattoos, fresh tattoos, and even temporary body markings. Jake brings a rare mix of experience: over 20 years of practice in the Craft plus formal training in neuroscience and marketing, which makes this a grounded, curious conversation rather than mystical posturing.

We talk about how symbols speak to the subconscious, why a tattoo can become an energetic anchor, and how meaning can deepen long after the session ends. Jake shares the story of his triangle tattoos and the moment he realized his tattoo was showing up in his magic, leading to the bigger question: are tattoos spells. From there we widen the lens into what “magic” is, why some witches spell it “magick” with a K, and how science and spirituality can coexist as two valid ways of describing the same human experience.

We get into simple methods to “activate” healed ink through touch, tracing, chanting, and sympathetic magic, plus considerations around pain, ritual, and working respectfully with artists and timing.
