  • Why Faulty Promises Lead to Lack of Trust
    Aug 17 2026

In this episode of Becoming More Like Jesus, we return to our journey through the Sermon on the Mount and Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5:33–37 about promises, oaths, and the integrity of our words.

Broken promises can have a lasting impact on our relationships. When someone says they will do something and doesn’t follow through, trust begins to erode. Jesus challenges His followers to live differently—not relying on exaggerated promises, oaths, or declarations to convince others that our words are true. Instead, He calls us to be people whose “yes” means yes and whose “no” means no.

What does this teach us about honesty, integrity, trust, and Kingdom living? And how can our words reflect the character of Jesus in a world where promises are often easily made and easily broken?

Join us as we explore Matthew 5:33–37 and consider what it looks like to become people others can trust because our words are honest, consistent, and rooted in integrity.

    Scripture: Matthew 5:33–37

Key takeaway: We don’t need elaborate promises to prove that we are trustworthy. As followers of Jesus, our everyday “yes” and “no” should be enough.

In this episode of the Becoming More Like Jesus podcast, we walk through Matthew 5:31–32 and Jesus’ challenging teaching on divorce. Divorce is messy, painful, and deeply personal, and this conversation approaches the topic with both truth and grace. We explore how Jesus’ words point us toward God’s design for marriage: unity, faithfulness, and covenant love that reflects Christ’s relationship with His church. Along the way, we look at insights from other scholars to better understand the historical and spiritual weight of divorce in Jesus’ day, while also acknowledging the real hurt and brokenness people experience today. If you’ve been impacted by divorce, this episode is not about condemnation, but about understanding the heart of Jesus, the seriousness of covenant relationships, and the grace He offers to all of us in our brokenness.

  • Watching Where Your Eyes Look
    May 18 2026

In this episode of Becoming More Like Jesus, we dive into Jesus’ challenging words from Gospel of Matthew 5:27–30 and what it truly means to live with a Kingdom heart by “watching where your eyes look.”

Building on last week’s discussion about anger and reconciliation, this episode explores the deeper root of sin—how what we allow our eyes to dwell on can shape our hearts. Jesus raises the standard beyond outward actions to inward transformation, calling us to a life of purity, integrity, and wholeness.

We take an honest look at the reality of sexual sin—why it’s so powerful, so destructive, and so often avoided in conversation. Through examples from Scripture, we see how unchecked desire has led to brokenness, division, and spiritual darkness throughout history. But this isn’t just about warning—it’s about hope.

You’ll hear practical, real-life steps for cutting off temptation and pursuing sexual integrity in a world full of distractions. From setting boundaries to seeking accountability, this episode equips you to take seriously Jesus’ call to radical action—removing anything that pulls your heart away from God.

If you’ve struggled, you’re not alone. There is grace, healing, and restoration available. This episode is an invitation to pursue wholeness, to reclaim purity of heart, and to walk in the freedom Jesus offers.

Tune in and learn what it means to guard your eyes—and your heart—as you become more like Jesus.
