This week on Movie Chats, Ant & Ry sit down for an exclusive interview with Mike Gallant, writer, director and star of Backpay (2026), an independent crime thriller with a Michael Mann vibe.
After catching an advance screening, we caught up with Mike to discuss the making of Backpay, the inspiration behind the story, its characters, and the challenges of writing, directing and starring in a feature film on a tight budget and schedule.
Backpay follows Steve, a struggling father desperate to save his marriage, who reconnects with an old friend and former undercover cop. Together, they hatch a plan to extort a corrupt politician, but what should be a straightforward job quickly spirals out of control.
🎬 Backpay release dates:
🇺🇸 🇬🇧 October 2, 2026 — Released by Buffalo 8 in the US and UK 🇦🇺 November 6, 2026 — Australian release 🎥
