  • A Compelling Faith in a Compromising Culture, by Mike Tatlock
    May 1 2026

Today, Roberta talks to Mike Tatlock about his new book A Compelling Faith in a Compromising Culture, available from Moody publishers.

When our faith is challenged, the best response isn’t to fall back. It’s to go deeper.

We’re living in a cultural storm. Perhaps you feel it. Postmodern philosophy and secular ideologies have trickled from academia to the broader culture, eroding belief in basic Christian doctrines. Christian teachings on family and sexuality, once respected by the wider culture, are now considered suspect or even dangerous. Increasingly, the Western world finds the church unnecessary, offensive, and irrelevant. Many Christians feel disoriented and discouraged.

A Compelling Faith in a Compromising Culture invites and shows us how to remain steadfast and faithful in this unique and challenging time in history. Pastor and professor Mike Tatlock explores how every aspect of our lives—our identity, appetites, behavior, and the way we relate to God and each other—must be rooted in God’s purposes. Readers reflect on topics like engaging the world without being scared, discernment over deception, contending for the faith without damaging our faith, feasting on the goodness of God, spiritual resilience, flourishing, and more.

Can we live in such a way that our faith is compelling and not compromising, complacent, or combatant? We can be tempted to despair or hide, to revile instead of reveal. This book offers another option. To live a compelling faith and to offer a compelling faith. Get a glimpse of your purpose in God’s cosmic plan, redeem the time, and joyfully serve Him regardless of what is transpiring in our world.

The storm is only going to grow stronger. It’s time to send our roots down deep. Tatlock shows us how to cultivate A Compelling Faith in a Compromising Culture.

  • Deep Breath, Little Whisper, by Scott James
    Apr 25 2026

Today, Roberta talks to Scott James about his new book Deep Breath, Little Whisper: Praying Every Little Word Your Heart Wants to Say, available from Zonderkidz publishers.

Help your child discover the importance of talking to God during all types of situations with this picture book that explores the use of breath prayers. Throughout, kids will learn that each of their direct praises, quick thanks, and whispered requests can bring them peace and build a stronger relationship with their heavenly Father.

God loves it when His children talk to Him—and connecting with God can be as easy as using a simple word or phrase. Deep Breath, Little Whisper introduces the idea of breath prayers by using a series of kid-friendly scenarios and engaging text to show young readers how they can have a conversation with God in the moment, wherever they are and however they’re feeling. Each example also helps remind them that prayer doesn’t have to be big and complex to be meaningful—it just has to come from the heart.

The illustrated book is perfect for:

  • Unearthing the Mysteries of Ancient Shechem - with Carl Gallups
    Apr 23 2026

Today, we speak with Carl Gallups about the new book Unearthing the Mysteries of Ancient Shechem: Revealing the Hidden Truths of Golgotha, Israel's Future, and the Biblical End of Days. This book is available from Defender publishing and is actually written by Zev Porat, a messianic rabbi in Israel who was not available for this interview. His close friend and ministry partner, pastor Carl Gallups, wrote the forward to this book and shares about the exciting information contained within.

The ancient city of Shechem, located in the middle of the land of Israel, is mentioned more than seventy times from Genesis to Acts. Shechem is where God spoke to Abraham and told him that through his seed all the nations of the earth would be blessed—a promise of the coming Messiah.

In the same city, Joshua held the renowned conclave of commitment between Mount Gerizim (Mount of Blessing) and Mount Ebal (Mount of Curses). It was also in Shechem that Joshua famously declared, “Choose you this day whom you will serve.… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!” (Joshua 24:15).

Messianic Rabbi Zev Porat, who was born and raised in Israel, uncovers mind-blowing biblical mysteries that have mostly been hidden from sight until now. Each one is linked to ancient Shechem as well as Golgotha. This rare journey of spiritual archeology unearths prophetic elements of God’s eternal plan of the ages, made abundantly relevant to the life of readers in their daily walk with Yeshua.

  • An Appearance of Impropriety, by Jayna Breigh
    Apr 19 2026

Today, Roberta talks to Jayna Breigh about her new book An Appearance of Impropriety, available from Kregel publishers.

Will their love turn into a scandal despite their efforts?

As the youngest female judge in Los Angeles, Mahalia Jackson has her career on a fast track to success. Her polished exterior makes sure of that. But when she volunteers for the Junior Jurors and ends up working side by side with attorney JD Cash, her plans begin to falter.

JD heads up the program—born out of his own troubled pastmdashwhere local teens learn about the legal system. He leverages his position as an attorney to fulfill God's calling on his life: to support the orphans and widows of society who have lost beloved fathers and husbands to TransNation's eighteen-wheeled time bombs roaming America's freeways.

Mahalia's rule—never date a lawyer—is a straitjacket that tightens when she presides over the case where JD serves as a young widow's attorney. When Mahalia is placed in a vulnerable position, her resolve begins to waver.

Her increasing proximity to the empathetic lawyer sparks an onslaught from anonymous online adversaries attempting to destroy Mahalia's reputation and career by throwing around claims of an appearance of impropriety. The digital disgrace pushes Mahalia to ask one hard question: Is loving JD worth risking her career?
