Talemwa Pius is a screenwriter, film director, editor and producer. His objective is to explore different film genres to challenge and break African stereotypes. Having worked on various social issues, he is the writer and director of the award-winning “Engaito”. He is an alumnus of the Multichoice Talent Factory Academy in Nairobi, Kenya, and has also attended and completed the Short Form Storytelling Workshops at the New York Film Academy (NYFA). Enjoy this chat with Oumar as he tells us about his background and projects.

Mlilo Mpondo is a writer published by various national and international platforms (e.g., UK Guardian, ELLE Magazine). Her stories talk about women, usually those on the socio-economic and cultural periphery of society. In 2022, she published the novel Things My Mother Left to Me (Black Bird Books). She is also the recipient of the UJ Debut Fiction Prize 2023 and has been long listed for the 2023 Sunday Times Literary Award. She speaks to Oumar about she carries stories.

‍Tony Koros is a filmmaker, and recipient of many prestigious fellowships and grants (e.g., 2021 Sundance Screenwriters & Directors Lab Fellow, 2020 Tribeca Film Institute Sloan Grant). His short films have been screened in various international festivals, including Palm Springs International Shortfest where he won the Alexis Prize in 2017. His latest short film, “Tithes & Offerings” premiered in competition at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2019 and was distributed by CANAL+.
