  • Stop Playing God For Everyone You Lead
    Aug 20 2026

He said if he disappeared tomorrow, everyone he provides for would be fine without him. Then he admitted the truth: they would not be fine, and neither would he.

This is for the man carrying more than his back can hold and calling it calling. If you feel that tightness in your chest right now, keep reading. This one is for you.

    In This Episode

Ryan shares the story of a high-performing, Jesus-following man who reached out in crisis, overwhelmed, exhausted, and convinced that everything would collapse without him. What surfaced in that conversation was not a scheduling problem or a leadership problem. It was a savior complex wearing biblical language.

Ryan walks through why sin that looks like sacrifice is far more dangerous than sin that looks like sin. Pornography and anger get resisted. Sacrifice gets applauded, even when it is actually pride wearing servant leadership as a disguise.

    Three shifts anchor the episode.

    • Needed versus loved. A man who needs to be needed has quietly made himself God to the people who actually need God.
    • Calling versus self-appointed. Real calling includes rest. If you never step away, what you are carrying is control, not calling.
    • Sacrifice versus absorption. Real sacrifice produces peace. What this man had was desperation, and his wife was the one absorbing the cost of a burden that was never hers to carry.

The heart of the episode lands here. God is not asking you to abandon anyone. He is asking you to stop being God for them. That is the drift. Naming it is the first step back.

    Key Takeaways

    • The performance trap is not always about ambition. Sometimes it wears the mask of sacrifice and service.
    • Self-reliance is the enemy underneath the performance trap, and it will dress itself in scripture to survive.
    • The most loving thing a man can do is stop absorbing consequences that belong to someone else, so the truth can finally surface and get fixed.

  • Why You Keep Breaking Promises To Yourself
    Aug 13 2026

You are not failing at discipline. You are trying to keep a promise made by a version of yourself you have not actually become yet, and that is why it dies by Wednesday every single time.

    What This Episode Covers

Every successful man knows the Monday feeling. Coffee is hot, calendar is clean, and the plan feels true. Then Wednesday hits, the plan cracks, and by Thursday he is already quietly building next Monday's version of the same promise.

In this episode, Ryan breaks down why that loop is not a discipline problem. It is an identity problem wearing discipline's clothes, and no amount of willpower fixes a plan built on a foundation that is not settled yet.

Key things covered in this episode:

    • The real reason a plan that felt completely true on Monday cannot survive Wednesday
    • Why more effort, stricter schedules, and new accountability threads never actually hold
    • The performance trap, and how self-reliance is the enemy underneath it, not laziness
    • A real client story showing what changes when identity gets settled before behavior does
    • The actual order that breaks the cycle: settled identity, known connection, clear calling, in that order

    The Core Insight

You cannot hold a man accountable to a version of himself he does not believe in. Every plan built by the man you wish you were, aimed at the man you actually are, cracks under the first real pressure of the week. That is not weakness. That is a diagnosis.

You were never built to close that gap alone. You were built for dependence on God and brotherhood with men who will actually ask you about your week on Wednesday, not just admire your plan on Monday.

  • Three Things Quietly Wrecking High Performing Christian Men
    Jul 30 2026

You can win every scoreboard that matters to everyone else and still be quietly drifting where no one can see it, and the wound you never named is usually the reason why.

Not sure where your gap actually lives? I built a free tool that will tell you in under 10 minutes. Seven questions, no fluff, just clarity: https://mogbrotherhood.com/the-gap-check

In April 2019, I had my first anxiety attack in the middle of the best year of my career on paper. Thirteen years walking with Jesus. My own consulting practice. My biggest client, a five-figure monthly contract, on the verge of walking out the door. And I ended up curled in the corner of my office floor.

This episode walks through that day minute by minute, then hands you the three step process I built out of it. I still use it every time the drift starts pulling me back under.

We cover the three things that were quietly doing the damage before I ever hit the floor. Working harder instead of dealing with what actually hurt. Measuring my life by a scoreboard other people could see instead of what was true. Self medication, which for me looked like overwork instead of what I was really avoiding.

We walk through the morning itself. The doubt about my calling, my capability, my worth. The three mile drive that felt impossible. The spiral about bills, about 2013, about what I would tell my wife and kids. And the three signals I ignored leading up to it, physical, mental, and spiritual, that I now know how to catch far sooner.

    The Core Insight

The drift never shows up wearing a name tag. It disguises itself as a busy season, a rough stretch, just Tuesday. But a wound with no bandage on it does not heal because you call it normal.

The second insight is the one most men miss. I did not get off that floor because I was strong enough. I got off it because I finally stopped trying to be. Your wound is not the disqualifier that costs you your man card. It is the raw material God uses to build the man.

    The Framework

Acknowledge the hurt. Realize the effect. Unlock the greatness. That order matters, and this episode shows you exactly how to walk it with whatever you are dealing with right now, not just the moments that put you on the floor.
