Asha Degree, the missing child whose cold case haunted North Carolina for 25 years, is the subject of this unsolved mystery investigation. Nine-year-old Asha vanished from her home in Shelby, NC on Valentine's Day 2000, spotted walking alone along Highway 18 in the rain before dawn. For decades the case was frozen: a buried bookbag, a phantom green car, and thousands of dead-end tips. Then came September 2024, when FBI agents and sheriff's deputies served search warrants on properties belonging to Roy Lee Dedmon and his family, seizing a green 1964 AMC Rambler, cameras, journals, computers, and a human tooth in a plastic bag. New DNA links from the buried bookbag, text messages between the Dedmon sisters discussing the investigation, and a reported confession at a house party turned the case into a declared homicide investigation in February 2025. No one has been arrested or charged, and the Dedmon family denies any involvement. This DeepCold episode traces Asha's last night, the green car, the buried bookbag, the 2024 search warrants, the text messages, and where the case stands today.
