- Wilkie Collins (b. 1824), a master of suspense and an early pioneer of the modern detective novel, best known for The Woman in White and The Moonstone.
Today’s featured poem is Carl Sandburg’s “Chicago”, a powerful tribute to the bustling city’s gritty spirit and raw beauty.
