This is a podcast that takes a nomadic approach to exploring the layered world of art and creativity. Through these conversations, we gain a better understanding of the artist’s mindset and how creative people insert themselves into culture. I do this because, if you understand how an artist thinks, it changes how you see the world. How you create. How you look at everyday objects. How you approach your own work. Art Nomad doesn’t focus on portfolios or accolades (we have LinkedIn for that). Instead, it favors humanity, the creative mind, and the tools that help forge new pathways through our rapidly culture. I’m your host, Eric. I’m a lover of art, a maker of art, and a lifelong nomad. I was raised in a commune where we wore silver dollars around our necks, shaved our heads, and sat in circles yelling at each other—which was apparently considered therapy. The commune will inevitably make its way into these conversations, partly because an unusual number of creative people came out of it… and I’ll be talking to a few of them. But enough about me. This podcast is really about my guests—and you. And for both of you, I want to create something different. Not just another interview show about art, but something more interactive, unpredictable, and alive. I want to bend the format a bit, maybe even break it. To experiment with guests in real time, uncover unexpected connections, and create moments that couldn’t have happened anywhere else. Each episode is built around a theme shaped by the guest’s creative DNA. Through research and conversation, I look for the ideas, experiences, obsessions, and contradictions that define how they think and create—and use those as the foundation for the episode.     In this STORMY episode we are talking to New York artist Sage Gallon—painter, poet, photographer, music producer, author, recording artist, and filmmaker. A man who wears many hats, and wears them all remarkably well.

    To say Sage's life has been a storm would be an understatement. It's been more like a crushing tornado that has flung him from coast to coast, deep into darkness, through homelessness, addiction, and prostitution. Yet from that wreckage Sage emerged to be named one of the 40 Black artists to watch in 2014.

    Sage and I walk through his journey—the chaos, the resilience, and the warmth that now embraces him. Beyond his story, we explore how the theme STORM has shaped the art world, and the profound impact it has had on culture and creativity.
