    As I marinated and prepared chicken for my eager dogs, I found myself reflecting on the parallels in the fitness industry. Coaches often approach their potential clients with a vision of the payoff, the success of their client acting as the critical ticket to their own survival. Yet, I question how much of their professed caring about my success is actually genuine.

    Whether they are physical trainers or business mentors, these professionals appear hungry to aid others as they strive to achieve their goals. But as a client, it's not results that I crave or trust; it's the ability to show my vulnerability and find genuine compassion and understanding.

    However, it is noteworthy that not everyone needs a Mickey from "Rocky." The paths to fitness vary widely; while some may be aspiring athletes or Instagram models, others are simply looking to take their first self-loving steps towards getting healthier. Each journey possesses its unique set of challenges, and an appropriate coach should be equipped to cater to them.

    The industry's biggest downfall is exploiting the success stories of those who have overcome weight issues. As someone who has lost 100 pounds, I understand how intoxicating the praise and recognition can be. However, using these stories to promote their coaching programs without consideration of the individual's capability to teach can lead to a dangerous precedent."

    Whether it's my dogs awaiting a fall of chicken or the fitness industry eagerly awaiting success, it's clear that hunger for more exists everywhere -And sadly, it's rarely ever in the client's best interest.

As an individual with a past embedded in evangelism, it is an ongoing struggle to suppress the need to validate my own journey and beliefs. I yearn for alignment and validation through agreement with my listeners, introducing an evangelistic element into this journey, one that might feel like a sermon sometimes.

    Inspiring to be route towards health and progress, my voyage has me hoping to break through the 500-pound barrier. I acknowledge positive changes like improvements in breathing, heart rate, and even blood pressure and sense tangible progress in the form of muscle definition. However, the challenge of establishing and maintaining healthy dietary habits still persists.

    Precariously balanced on the precipice of progress and setbacks, I grapple with feelings of undeservingness. I can't help but feel I disappoint my listeners who tune into this podcast for motivation and inspiration, only to often find themselves witness to my various trials and setbacks.

    A poignant moment occurs when discussing a close friend's brother's story, who, despite damaging his own liver, is getting a second shot at life with a liver transplant. Do we deserve second chances? Have I become too reliant on the grace of successive chances? These questions plague my mind.

    I want to stress that I'm merely striving to make each day a little better than the last. And I welcome any feedback, especially if I tend to get overly preachy. This isn't just about health, it's about self-awareness and mindfulness, growth and improvement against our odds.

Over time, distaste for 'foundational rules' gave way to understanding the critical role they play in establishing structure and routine.

    From fitness to work and creative process, a realization emerged about the indispensable role a set of core habits play: forming a strong foundation to keep life balanced amidst changes. Unchanging routines - whether it's yoga, a daily cup of tea or swimming a mile each day - ensure that even amidst changing circumstances, there's an established foundation, a sense of normalcy one can return to.

    Acknowledging that every individual's routines differ greatly and there's no 'one size fits all, the episode emphasizes the importance of creating personal foundations. These 'foundations' evolve into muscle memory, helping to navigate potentially derailing situations without disrupting progress. In establishing a new work regime and dealing with mounting high-pressure projects, it is such foundational habits that offer a much needed stability.
