Main Points 1. God sees us as we really are—even when we don't. 2. God invites us to agree with Him about our sin and return to Him. This sermon examines Hosea 12, contrasting the deceptive prosperity of the nation of Israel with the humble surrender of the patriarch Jacob. The central message asserts that God sees the true state of His people, exposing their self-deception and reliance on foreign powers rather than divine faithfulness. By highlighting Jacob's struggle with God and his subsequent weeping for favor, the text illustrates that genuine repentance requires acknowledging sin and surrendering one's own strength. The preacher emphasizes that God invites believers to return to Him, observe mercy and justice, and wait on Him continually, rather than pursuing empty worldly gains. Ultimately, the passage serves as a call to humility, urging the audience to forsake deceit and embrace the grace available through a restored relationship with the Lord.
