A proposito di questo titolo
Our first 81 episodes are what we now consider APNC 1.0 with our original crew: Opie, Pete, Kevin, Alex, and later, David. Through the onset of COVID and life changes, the podcast began to evolve. It was the end of an era, but we loved this crew and the memories we made. You'll notice that our earliest episodes are not on YouTube. The addition of video was never in the plans, but came to life as a surprise side effect of COVID. Going into 2022, Pete and Kevin took the show in a new direction after losing the rest of the original crew. They found their groove almost immediately with appearances from Andrew and Andy, who immediately became show regulars. Throughout what is now considered APNC 2.0, hosting has waffled back and forth between Pete and Kevin, and the cast fluctuates between any combination of the 4, and sometimes even their friend Kim, but the content is always flowing. 2022 has been a very consistent year for the gang and they look to keep it rolling into 2023 and beyond.2019 All Pop, No Culture All Rights Reserved Arte
  • 291. Elizabeth Holmes Documentary Debate + Lizzie Borden Monster + Billy Crystal's 860
    Oct 27 2026

This week on All Pop, No Culture, the crew dives into the new Elizabeth Holmes documentary You Can See Everything, the latest season of Monster centered on Lizzie Borden, and Billy Crystal's deeply personal Broadway show 860.

Lauren opens with Monster: Lizzie Borden, discussing Ella Beatty's performance, Charlie Hunnam's return to the anthology, Rebecca Hall, Lizzie's upbringing, the famous axe murders, and the increasingly blurry line between historical truth and Ryan Murphy's dramatic interpretation.

Andrew and Saloni then lead a long discussion of You Can See Everything and the complicated question at the center of Elizabeth Holmes' story: did she knowingly lie, or did she genuinely believe Theranos would eventually become what she promised?

The conversation explores whistleblowers, inaccurate blood testing, investor deception, Sunny Balwani, Billy Evans, Amanda Seyfried, The Dropout, the earlier HBO Theranos documentary, and how charisma, wealth, ambition, and self-delusion can combine to create something almost cult-like.

Lauren closes with a moving review of Billy Crystal's 860, a Broadway show inspired by the loss of his longtime California home in the 2025 wildfires. Through memories of family, Robin Williams, Muhammad Ali, Rob Reiner, and more than four decades of life in one house, Crystal turns grief into a story about gratitude, laughter, and the things we carry with us after physical possessions disappear.

The episode also includes conversations about Anna Delvey, WeWork, Mark Zuckerberg, The Gilded Age, The Pitt, and Lioness.

  • 292. Clayface Is Incredible + Street Fighter Rules + Whalefall & Glee Returns
    Oct 30 2026

This week on All Pop, No Culture, Kevin, Andrew, and Pete cover Clayface, Street Fighter, Whalefall, and the newly announced return of Glee.

Kevin and Andrew open with an enthusiastic review of Clayface, the surprisingly dark DCU body-horror film centered on an actor whose life falls apart after a brutal attack and experimental treatment begins transforming him into something else. They discuss the performances, practical effects, Gotham, Mike Flanagan's influence, and why the movie may be one of the biggest surprises of the year.

Pete then brings news of Glee returning, leading to a larger conversation about whether the series can recreate its original magic, which cast members need to return, the tragedies surrounding several members of the original cast, and whether a modern Glee should target longtime fans or a new generation entirely.

Kevin also reviews Street Fighter, calling it a colorful, funny, visually impressive adaptation that succeeds by understanding exactly what kind of movie it is. The discussion covers Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Blanka, M. Bison, the film's anime flashbacks, and why it delivers far more than expected.

Finally, Kevin reviews Whalefall, starring Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin. While the hook involves a young diver becoming trapped inside a whale, the emotional core is a story about grief, fathers and sons, and coming to terms with a difficult relationship after it's too late.

The episode also includes Buddy, Backrooms, Resident Evil, Obsession, The Diplomat, Vision Quest, The Studio, The Offer, I Play Rocky, and a long discussion about the movie-theater experience.

  • 293. Patrick Stewart Tribute + VisionQuest Debate + A Story of Derry
    Nov 4 2026

This week on All Pop, No Culture, Kevin and Andrew begin by remembering Sir Patrick Stewart, who died October 28 at age 86.

They look back at Stewart's extraordinary career as Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Professor Charles Xavier, his Shakespearean roots, the impact of Star Trek: The Next Generation, First Contact, X-Men, Picard Season 3, his relationship with the TNG cast, Star Trek conventions, and the humor and humility that made him much more than the famously serious characters he played.

The conversation then shifts to Marvel's VisionQuest. Six episodes in, Kevin and Andrew are still enjoying parts of the series — especially James Spader's return as Ultron — but both feel the story has begun to meander. They discuss Vision's identity, Tommy Maximoff, Jocasta, the AI personalities, Terry Matalas' style, the mysterious client, and whether the final two episodes can bring everything together.

That naturally leads into Avengers: Doomsday theories involving Doctor Doom, Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, Hulk, Thor, Captain Marvel, and the future of the MCU.

Finally, Kevin and Andrew review HBO's surprise A Story of Derry special, praising its Native American cast, atmosphere, mythology, Maturin, the Deadlights, the 13 shards, and the way the episode expands Stephen King's larger cosmic mythology while setting the stage for more Welcome to Derry.

Kevin also gives a quick recommendation for Cupertino, CBS' new Mike Colter legal drama about a small firm taking on Silicon Valley's tech elite.
