This week we are joined by a dynamic duo of creatives that have been a team since their moms were packing their lunches: Adam Hampton and Jason Alexander. The two Oklahomans, along with Kenny Pitts, Chad “Beard” Matthews and Jason Garner, produce independent films under the name Outsiders Productions. They grew up in rural Dale, OK, where most futures were pegged on wheat prices rather than film making.

They talk about how they developed together through what Hampton calls “collaborative competitiveness.” Adam and Jason started their production company in college as they realized how their skills complemented each other, bringing together the creative and the technical. “You gotta have people you can trust,” says Adam.

Some folks might wonder, “Why not work out of LA or New York?” Hampton shares he wanted to remain connected to his roots. “I didn’t want to go somewhere else to try to tell stories. I wanted to tell stories here, about here.” So they began making movies with available light, casting family and friends and using no-cost locations.

Hampton was recently recognized as a trailblazer at the 2025 Bare Bones Film Festival. He also received the Film Icon Award at deadCenter Film Festival 2025. His most recent work includes a role in the 2025 fantasy thriller Jurassic Games: Extinction.
