In this episode of A Journey Through Faith, we’re taking a closer look at The Armor of God and what it means to intentionally put on the armor God has given us. Through Scripture, we’ll explore the six pieces of God’s armor—the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit. Also, we’ll talk about how Prayer and Worship can be a part of The Armor of God.

And there’s something special in this episode! I’ve included a pre-recorded Bible study to help you slow down, study the Scriptures, and go deeper into what each piece of armor means for your everyday walk with Christ. Below in our show notes, you will find supporting verses that will help you with this study.

The Main Scripture —

Ephesians 6:10–18

Paul tells believers to “put on the whole armor of God” so they can stand against the schemes of the devil.

The six pieces are:

1. Belt of Truth — Ephesians 6:14
2. Breastplate of Righteousness — Ephesians 6:14
3. Shoes of the Gospel of Peace — Ephesians 6:15
4. Shield of Faith — Ephesians 6:16
5. Helmet of Salvation — Ephesians 6:17
6. Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God — Ephesians 6:17

And don't leave out prayer and worship. Paul immediately follows the armor with a call to pray at all times in Ephesians 6:18.

Supporting Verses

Truth — John 8:31–32 Jesus teaches that knowing and continuing in His word leads to truth and freedom.

Righteousness — 2 Corinthians 5:21 A powerful reminder that our righteousness ultimately comes through Christ.

Peace — Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast…”

Faith — Hebrews 11:1 Faith gives us confidence in what we hope for and assurance concerning what we cannot see.

Faith against the enemy — 1 Peter 5:8–9 Peter tells believers to be alert, resist the enemy, and stand firm in faith.

Salvation — 1 Thessalonians 5:8 Paul also connects the helmet with the hope of salvation.

God's Word — Hebrews 4:12 God's Word is living and active. It’s Sword of the Spirit.

Standing firm — James 4:7

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

submit to God → stand firm → resist the enemy.

God's strength — Ephesians 6:10 Paul doesn't begin by telling us to be strong in ourselves. He says to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
