    THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAAAAY!

The first Double Feature Date Night Friday of 2026, and the last Double Feature Date Night Friday of Season 2. Out with the old, in with the new, as they say. The champagne bottles are in the recycling, the confetti is cleared away and the When Harry Met Sally Blu-ray is back on the shelf. New Resolutions are being written out to commemorate a New Year and, dare we say, a whole New You? Welcome to Episode Twelve of Season Two of A Couple of Old Fashioneds: Becca and Joe’s Double Feature Date Night at the Movies, the Season Finale!

On this episode the Theme is, “New Year, New You”, and the movies are:

    STRANGE DAYS & REPEAT PERFORMANCE!

Who felt an underrated Bigelow deserved a repeat viewing and who wanted to make an underrated film noir less of a stranger? And will this movie mashup make for a strange day, or will it merit a repeat performance? And is anyone else getting sufficiently full of these bios’ questionable wordplays yet?

Watch the episode to find out if you guessed right!

Don’t forget now the show is its own broadcast to please subscribe to its YouTube and Podcast channels, share with anyone you think would enjoy and stay up to date on latest episodes! Follow it on Instagram and Letterboxd to see the complete movie lists and let Becca and Joe know in the Comment Sections on YouTube or leave a Review wherever you Podcast about whether you agree with their picks and what movie you would’ve brought if it had been a Triple Feature.

After all, the greatest gift a movie lover can give another is a great title they have yet to discover. That’s what movies are all about - they’re the only kind of marathon worth participating in and they’re what Date Nights are made for. No matter what year it is, that’s one thing that will never change.

So settle in, grab your favorite old fashioned drink with your favorite old fashioned person (if that’s the pleasure of your own company then we completely feel you), and revel in a couple old fashioned conversations with Becca and Joe. They are, let’s face it, a pretty old fashioned kind of couple themselves.

And alright, once more (for old fashioned times’ sake): THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAAAAY!

  • Portrait of a Lady on Fire & Star Wars: Episode V - Empire Strikes Back
    Dec 26 2025

    THANK GOD IT’S POST-CHRISTMAS-FRIDAAAAY!

It’s that special fugue state time of the season between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve when one celebration is over but another is about to begin. If we’re lucky, we’re full of food, full of family, and full of movies: like a boxer taking a breath between bouts in the ring, we’re down…but not quite out. Welcome to Episode Eleven of Season Two of A Couple of Old Fashioneds: Becca and Joe’s Double Feature Date Night at the Movies!

On this episode the Theme is, “Down but not Out”, and the movies are:

PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE & STAR WARS: EPISODE V - EMPIRE STRIKES BACK!

Which of the two interpreted the theme emotionally to mean the downwards moment of a blockbuster trilogy’s rollercoaster story arc, and which of the two interpreted the theme literally to mean the act of love between two women never able to be out of the closet their society’s trapped them in. And will Becca and Joe be down with this double feature, or is this one out of sync?

Watch the episode to find out if you guessed right, and stay tuned to the end to find out what the Theme will be next week!

This Theme was in fact chosen by Brian Clancy, who suggested it on the YouTube version of the show. Thank you Brian, and thank you to our amazing community for supporting the show and offering incredible suggestions like this one! Please keep throwing them out there, you never know whose Theme might be chosen next…

    THANK GOD IT’S CHRISTMAAAAS!

Breaking open the box of Christmas VHS movies is for some people as ubiquitous a part of the season as breaking open the box of Christmas tree decorations. There are the old favorites that everyone typically knows, your Wonderful Life’s, your Home Alone’s, then there are the newer favorites, the ones we’re introduced to later in life, that start to adorn our cinematic seasonal hit lists long after we stop writing letters to Santa.

This special Christmas episode is about those kind of movies. Welcome to Episode Ten of Season Two of A Couple of Old Fashioneds: Becca and Joe’s Double Feature Date Night at the Movies!

On this episode the Theme is, “Secret Santa”, and the movies are:

8 WOMEN & THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT!

Watch Becca and Joe introduce entirely new Christmas films to one another’s seasonal lives. Which of the two brought a French lesbian murder mystery musical to the table, and which of the two brought an American amnesiac hitwoman action comedy? Do movies which feature Christmas as more of a backdrop than a plot point still count as Christmas movies? And will either of these become essential seasonal viewing for either Becca or Joe?

Watch the episode to find out if you guessed right, and stay tuned to the end to find out what the Theme will be next week!

Wherever you are, whoever you’re celebrating with, we hope there’s a great movie of any variety playing on your TV. Let us know the title to what hip pocket, underrated Christmas movie(s) you wish you could introduce more people to!
