In this episode of the Di Na 'To Drowing Podcast, I’m joined by El Bonuan to geek out over the official trailer for Forgotten Island, and we are honestly blown away. It feels like a historic moment to finally see Hollywood take a real shot at highlighting Filipino mythology and culture through such high-level animation. We dive deep into the excitement of seeing the Manananggal, Engkanto, Tikbalang, and Aswang brought to life on the big screen, especially within an original story that feels so intentional and respectful of our roots. We also break down the incredible Filipino voice cast and go frame-by-frame to spot the hidden easter eggs and cultural details that show just how much heart was put into this storytelling. If you’ve been waiting for our folklore to get the global stage it deserves, you won’t want to miss this deep dive.
