  • Snow ❄️
    Jan 22 2021

❄️☃️❄️ Have you ever noticed how quiet the world gets when it snows? ❄️☃️❄️ After some recent heavy snowfall in Zurich I took my microphone and went out to capture 5 Minutes of silence of freshly fallen snow in all of its pristine glory! I also made sure to pack in a freshly created musical piece and some footsteps of me walking through the snow 🙌

I'm very grateful for all the feedback and suggestions I've received after releasing my first two episodes. After the 5 Minutes of Silence I'll be reading the poem "Appliances" by Aurel Sieber. It's a poem he wrote about his household appliances, and I thought it would be fitting for this podcast.

  • Anechoic Chamber
    Jan 12 2021

An anechoic chamber is a room that is heavily isolated from all outside noises and that absorbs all sounds created within it. The silence you experience in an anechoic chambers is about as pure as it can get. I always knew that these rooms existed, but had never been inside one myself. So when I created this podcast, I knew that one of the first episodes would have to feature the silence of an anechoic chamber!

In this episode you'll be hearing Kurt Heutschi, a senior scientist and acoustician working at EMPA answering some of my questions about silence and noise, before we hear 5 minutes of pure silence from EMPA's anechoic chamber.

  • Washing Machine
    Dec 12 2020

My washing machine sits quietly next to my mixing desk in my home studio, so doing laundry and creating music are usually mutually exclusive things for me. One day after I went to collect another batch of laundry I asked myself: How does this washing machine sound when it's NOT washing my laundry? It was this question that led me to create this podcast.
