A good listen

Disappointing that the authors could not or would not reach a conclusion. What verdict would they have come to if they were jurors ?

Gripping from start to finish

I was so gripped by this series that I binged it in two days. The series was very well written and produced, and it was easy to tell that the team had put a vast amount of work into it. I'm from a small village in Ireland, but have never heard of this story as I wasn't born when it was in the news, so it was completely new to me. The thought of something like this happening where I’m from would still be unheard off to this day. I'm recommending this series to everyone as it's such a great piece of work.

Very fair non biased fascinating podcast

I never knew of this tragic story. It is told very well and with a non biased viewpoint.
I found it interesting learning about The prime suspect character. This is a fact finding podcast which I found very hard to tear myself away from.

Fantastic,riveting and addictive

Hi there, I’m from West Cork and had a real interest in listening to this podcast. I found the authors very fair and neutral when giving their views on different aspects of the story.
I absolutely adore Jennifer’s voice/accent. I could listen to her for ever!

Fantastic

Having grown up close to the area this gave an excellent insight into what happened sounds and interviews were top class and i can't wait to hear more from these journalists as their storytelling was enthralling. This is highly recommended 10/10

Why?

At the end of an engaging if sometimes laboured listen, this episode was totally pointless. All about the production and the possibility of other work. Vapid interviewing. I stuck with it to the end. A half hour I'll never get back.

West Cork is an interesting listen.

I went from being horrified in which a innocent man has had his life so dramatically changed to believing he could have done the crime he was charged for, and therefore deserves all that he has had put on him. A violent man, a huge ego and a larger than life personality this does not make him guilty?? I hope it gets resolved one way or the other.

I am really concerned though if the police are really prepared to convict a person with just circumstantial evidence and prepared to bend the truth to
convict an innocent person...

Gripping

An excellent piece of journalism, well balanced and well presented . The sound and music enhance the imagery , it was brilliant ! I could feel as if I was there in West Cork . It also accurately described rural culture in Ireland especially in the 80 s / 90 s . It was sensitive to the tragedy of Sophie s murder and her family while being very fair towards the accused. I live in rural west of Ireland and I m looking forward to future productions from this team

Would have liked to have heard more from Sophie’s family

It sounds very much like a bungled investigation due to timing and location. I hope Ireland has learned lessons from this. I’m not at all convinced of his innocence. He says he wishes they’d charge him and get on with a case so he could have closure in this series yet he has subsequently done everything to avoid the case when put to trial in France and now his conviction. And the excuses he has for his disgusting domestic violence are as old as the hills. Quite odious listening to this grandiose person but fascinating case nonetheless. I felt they did a good job putting together this series though I’d have liked to hear a little more from Sophie’s family. I hope Sophie’s family get the long overdue justice they deserve.
