"Wer sich selbst und andere kennt, wird auch hier erkennen: Orient und Okzident sind nicht mehr zu trennen." Dieser eine Vers in Goethes Gedichtband drückt aus, was der Autor in seiner Gedichtsammlung versucht: eine Hochzeit zwischen der Kultur des Abend- und des Morgenlandes. Inspiriert von der Lektüre von Hafis’ "Diwan" ist Goethes Werk nicht nur eine lyrische Entfaltung tiefer Gefühle und Gedanken, sondern auch eine Hommage an den persischen Seelenverwandten. Gelesen von Peter Matić , Bernt Hahn, Helene Grass u. v. a. bietet die vorliegende Produktion eine reichhaltige Auswahl aus Goethes wichtigstem lyrischen Werk.
