A proposito di questo titolo
Captain Odalys Rook has one contract left before she retires: chart a newly opened world before the survey window closes in sixty days. Her aging survey ship, Second Opinion, carries five misfits and Pilot, a dry-witted ship's mind who has spent eleven years trying to get her to sign her retirement paperwork.
The world is called Tamsin, and it is not a planet. It is a ring of living land turning in the dark, with a perfect climate, fields of singing glass, a river that runs uphill and no animal larger than a cat. No natural process explains it. Then the crew starts following a trail of buried beacons toward the ring's hub, and they discover that something is still tending Tamsin, something very old and very patient, and it has been counting them since the moment they arrived.
Each day brings a new wonder and a new puzzle, from a meadow that tidies itself in the night to a door that opens only to the right chorus of voices. An engineer who dreads open sky, a biologist who cannot stop naming things, a young flier with a secret, a cook with a long memory and a surveyor who says very little must all work together, because the lights of Tamsin are slowly going out.
This is a hopeful, funny, wonder-filled voyage about found family, stubborn curiosity and a ship that talks back. It is clean, brisk and made for long drives and quiet evenings, with a real puzzle at its heart and a warm, emotional ending.
A science fiction adventure of exploration, discovery and friendship.
