Sintesi dell'editore

Nineteen-year-old Dylan Shaw is possibly the most beautiful thing Malic Sunden has ever seen. After Malic rescues Dylan from an attack, Dylan makes it very clear that he is more than interested, but Malic won’t even consider sleeping with Dylan because of his age. Malic is sure he’s not good enough for Dylan, who has his whole life ahead of him, and can’t conceive of burdening Dylan with his secrets. But the darkness in Malic’s life won’t be denied, and soon Dylan is drawn into the dangerous paranormal world that is Malic’s reality. Malic fights tooth and nail to push Dylan away, to keep him safe… no matter that Dylan is the key to Malic’s strength and the only hope for his future. Book Two in the Warder series

Still the worst narrator... Ever. :(

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator.

What other book might you compare Tooth and Nail to and why?

Well, not a book but a graphic novel. Yami no Matsuei. Why? Because of the paranormal elements and the fact that the characters seem modeled after Japanese manga/anime characters. Also maybe Megan Derr's Dance with the Devil series.

What didn’t you like about Andrew Schwartz’s performance?

Everything. It was just so, so, so frigging hard to listen to. It was just extremely unpleasant. No emotion, rushing through the narrative, weird intonation, misplaced or missing emphasis, lack of appropriate pauses, no differentiation between character voices which is important with this author because she doesn't put tags in a lot of her dialogue so unless you have the actual book/ebook open you'll find it almost impossible to discern who the hell is talking.

Did Tooth and Nail inspire you to do anything?

It inspired me to never, ever buy another audiobook narrated by Andrew Schwatrz.

Any additional comments?

Release this audiobook again with a better narrator and I'd be more than happy to buy it again.

Dreamspinner Readers are So Inconsistent!

This reader is awful. Where's the fire? He obviously can't wait to get out of the studio and speeds through the story a record pace. There is a way on my player to set the story to double time if I'm in a hurry... but this guy takes all emotion out of the story.

not happy with narrator

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator read the book too fast. At times it was hard to keep up with the story because it seemed like words were run together

Ok story, didn't like the narrator

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator, his reading is passionless. He speaks very quickly without much pause when reading dialog, so at times it was difficult to follow who was speaking.

Would you be willing to try another book from Mary Calmes? Why or why not?

Yes. The story was interesting enough. I liked the main character

How could the performance have been better?

Better narrator

Was Tooth and Nail worth the listening time?

It is what I expected when I bought it, a gay harlequin novel.

Is the story good..I don't know I couldn't hear..

What would have made Tooth and Nail better?

A different narrator! Maybe I'm spoiled because I just got done listening to Charles Carr narrate a book. Mr. Schwartz's voice dips so low when he's not reading dialogue to render him inaudible. His dialogue is forced. If you don't have a good narrator, you're really hurting the book. Both content, story line and narration have to be at least average to be enjoyable, but since I couldn't catch his mumbling most of the time, even after adjusting my bass and treble over and over, I flew up my hands in surrender.

What could Mary Calmes have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Get a different narrator. I can't tell if the book was well done..I'm half way through it and don't know half of what's behind the closet. I think Mary and Andrew need to come out of the closet and tell us in loud emphatic words..

Would you be willing to try another one of Andrew Schwartz’s performances?

NO

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Seemed like the storyline was very workable

Any additional comments?

I'll give the author one more try as long as its a different person reading.

Love this story do not love the narrator

We met Malic in book one, the once lover to Ryan Dean. He’s big, scary, cold and distant. He also seems to constantly be doing things that put his life in danger, making his other warders worry about him.

One night he rescues the very, very young Dylan from an almost rape and Dylan immediately latches on to Malic as his hero and wants to be with him in all the ways that count.

Malic doesn’t want to hurt the young man with the anime eyes so he ditches him over and over. Finally, it takes another brush with danger for him to give their relationship a chance, knowing it could hurt Dylan in the end.

In between – Malic is almost killed by a Demon in a closet, kyrie in his bed, and some other Demons looking to make Jael suffer.

**

First – Dylan and Malic tie as my number two favorite couples in this series with Ryan and Julian. (Joe and Marcus are number one, if you care ☺ ) Dylan is PERFECT for Malic and we are lucky enough to see more of them in a later book.

Second – this book had quite a bit of world-building in it and if I didn’t know about the coming sequel this couple gets I’d feel a bit cheated for their romance. But… we do actually get to see a lot of them again, so just trust that this world building and initial relationship stuff is the tip of the iceberg.

Third- There is a lot of non-romance in this that is important later on, so don’t just skim it, it comes into play later.

I loved this series and this book (especially later) and highly recommend it.

Audio:
Andrew Schwartz is not my favorite narrator. He talks very fast and is sometimes incomprehensible. It's hard to listen to. He doesn't give anyone a different voice and he rushes through things so fast it leaves you wondering if he even breathes. I really love this story and wish it had a different narrator.

I listen to this series several times a year

I listen to this series when I need a go to series that I’ve heard and loved before. This is probably my favorite of the series, but I love them all.

Not the best in the series

Thank heavens I read/listened to the series all out of order because this one is my least favorite in the series. Frankly I so much prefer Malic and Dylan's story in book 6.

Anyways Dylan was way too forward with what he wanted based on nothing and that just didn't work for me. He wanted to prove that he was a man but he proved exactly the opposite with words and actions. Malic folded and did it with Dylan under what was in no way a justification. Also I'm not sure what purpose it served to be told that in 2 occasions Malic slept with someone else. It was off page and he and Dylan hadn't come together but they had met and Dylan was actively "pursuing" him.

The narration and production was an even more detriment to the story.
