THE BEST DEAL I HAVE EVER HAD ON AUDIABLE

I have hundreds of books, & getting these four brilliant books for one credit is just amazing. The writing is superb, although I was concerned as other reviewers had quoted it as funny at times. I always consider an author trying to be funny in a thriller an impossibility, as usually falls flat on its face, but it is actually funny at times. The one line quips from the detective are masterful, as are the stories.

Each tale is beautiful narrated with great accents, the twists & turns are there to the very end & it has edge to it, sometimes being surprisingly gritty. You really cant go wrong with this, it is a stunning deal.

Laugh out loud every book.

Terrible

I couldn't make it past the first 15 minutes of the first book. The narrator reads really fast and without emotion, I thought he was not human at first. The protagonist is a sexist jerk. Find something else to read/listen to.

Hysterical

Kept me laughing out loud. Loved it. Confused the heck out of my office mates. I would just bust out a laugh and the office became sea of prairie dogs in an ocean of cubicles.

Excellently written and narrated!

Fantastic thrillers with a main character who has a hilariously sarcastic sense of humor. Very well written and narrated. Definitely not for the faint of heart or the most politically correct person. If you can handle some graphic details of a corpse and not get offended easily I highly recommend this book set. Fires on all cylinders. I've listened to several books, with the majority being thrillers, and this is the a absolute best one yet. The writing of the main characters' sense of humor and the narrators great timing are beyond words. I have never read or listened to a book more than once in my life (48 yrs. old) ... until now. Stop reading my review and get to the first book!

Great Listen

I had already listened to the first book in this series. Yes I did have to suspend by belief a bit but over all I liked it enough to purchase this set. An incredible bargain and a great listen. So interesting and thought provoking that I did actually Google some information. Narrator Johnny Heller nailed it for me. I am hoping there’s more Thomas Prescott in the near future! Thanks Nick Pirog.

Fun and over the top

Thomas is truly funny and entertainingly politically incorrect. At least in words, not in action. Well, at least most of the times. The author balances this very well. The stories are equally entertaining. The endings/solutions are perhaps so much over the top that the overall impression is slightly less than it could be. But up until the endings - I am highly amused! Well performed - as always.
Ps. I prefer to believe my interpretation is correct: the author actually respects and admires wolfes. Other more domesticated dogs and piglets he obviously love. Good! Must love dogs.

Nope

I was happy to settle into a good long listen, but this detective is an HR liability who would only be hired by the likes of the trump administration. The book is unlistenable, I feel like I earned the #metoo hashtag by trying it for 1/2 an hour or so.

Well written characters

characters in the books come to life. I believe some people could look at the main character as sexist egocentric cowboy in a world better suited 100 years ago. That fact only makes this sometimes a laugh out loud experience. With his rough edges, women seem to be drawn to him like 007. In fact, this character reminds me a lot of James bond in the Roger Moore era. he is an old soul in young body.

Twists and turns till the end!

The author has a diabolical mind and a delightful sense of humor with which he endows our Thomas. This book will keep you guessing and smiling while you learn some important information and try to determine “who dunnit?”.

If I Could Award Six Stars I Would.

I listen to between 200 and 300 audiobooks per year, mostly crime/thriller/mysteries, I'm retired living on a small island boardering the tropical Sibuyan Sea. These four novels are the very best I have listened to in several years. The central character, Thomas Prescott, is a phenomenon in the crime genre, up there with John Rebus, Dave Robicheaux, Elvis Cole. The writing is superb with no filler, every word counts, crisp dialogue, wonderful laugh out loud humour, great plot lines that had me guessing, believable and well crafted characters and locations. The narrator does an absolutely first class job in adding the extra dimension of sound to the vibrant text. An absolute pleasure to experience.

Glad I bought 4 books together

I listened to the first book and it seemed okay. The second however seems different. It started out with a murder but then forgot about that. The main character then spends considerable time defining females that he comes across as really ugly and to be degraded or as something to jump into bed with. There don't appear to be any other type of woman. I got sick of the repetitive nature of "Introduce young woman to storyline jump into bed with her", I forgot the original murder and eventually gave up at about chapter 33. I suppose that if I'd bought 4 separate books, I'd never get to numbers 3 and 4.
