I cannot really say whether I liked the story, because I was constantly distracted by the narrator’s whispering delivery. It is difficult to understand why the entire book is read in such a hushed tone, as if the narrator were in some sort of trance about to fall asleep.
The voice given to the protagonist’s husband is even more surreal: from the start he hisses and whispers like a cloistered monk. This feels less like a reading and more like an arbitrary interpretation that interferes with — and distorts — the listener’s understanding of the text.
Audible should make listening clear and enjoyable, or at least not distorted.
