Sintesi dell'editore
The Summer Wind is the second book in Monroe's Lowcountry Summer trilogy, following the New York Times best seller The Summer Girls. This series is the poignant and heartwarming story of three half-sisters and their grandmother, who is determined to help them rediscover their Southern roots and family bonds.
It's midsummer, and Eudora, nicknamed Dora, is staying at Sea Breeze, the family's ancestral home on Sullivan's Island. For years, Dora has played the role of the perfect wife and mother in a loveless marriage. Now her husband has filed for divorce, her child is diagnosed with autism, and her house is on the market. Dora's façade collapses under the weight of her grief, and she suffers "broken heart syndrome." Mamaw and the girls rally around Dora - but it's up to Dora to heal herself as she spends the summer prowling the beach, discovering the secrets of the island and her heart. This is a summer of discovery for all the women of Sea Breeze. Carson returns from Florida to face life-changing decisions, Lucille confronts a health scare, and an unexpected visitor has Harper reconsidering her life's direction.
When tropical storm winds batter the island, the women must band together and weather the tempest - both the one outside their windows and the raging sea of emotions within each of them. They must learn again what it means to be a sister. It is up to Mamaw to keep the light burning at Sea Breeze to guide the girls through the lies, the threats, and the rocky waters of indecision to home.

loved it!!
I listened to it in 6 days. Mary Alice Monroe is a great author. I also love that she read the book herself. It was her words so she knew just how to read it. can't wait to listen to the next on the series.

As beautiful as the first one
This is the second book of the Lowcountry Summer series, I loved the first one and this is just as good, its very sweet and beautiful (and clean); its read by the author and she has a very soothing southern accent, it made me feel like it was Mamaw telling the story.
I feel it has the same formula than the first one, it follows the three sisters, the grandma and the maid a little bit, we have a new love story but its not focused in that.
We get to know a little more of the background story of the sisters and we see more of the little kid Nate.
I really enjoyed it, I think this series it the perfect summer read, Im already listening to the third one.

LOVED this book - felt as though I was there!
This well crafted story of three adult half-sisters, their grandmother, and the long-time family housekeeper/friend, together for a summer, on Sullivan's Island, SC was breathtakingly beautiful and touching. I enjoyed every moment of the book and it will be one I keep and re-read just for the experience of feeling as though I am on the island amongst this cast of interesting characters. Their stories are intricate, endearing, deep, thought provoking, yet happy and encouraging. They learn to love and support each other in this book (part of a series). I am a huge fan of the author. The authenticity with which she writes of the SC Lowcountry makes this SC girl swoon with fond memories; remembered sights and smells of the islands around Charleston. I didn't want the book to end but am grateful it is part of an ongoing series - there's so much to develop and unfold! That makes me eager to download the next one and take another stroll through my youth and the lovely beach life. Addendum: The book was narrated by the author - lending the perfect emphasis and meaning to the words she intended in the writing. She did a beautiful job with the narration - it was very special to have the author read her own book to me.

Meh…I kept listening and expecting more but more never came
I’m fairly resentful that the mid-30s characters were made to sound like they were old and decrepit. I fully expected them to be more into their 50s based on descriptions and my mind was blown to find out otherwise.

Reflective reading
well narrated and entertaining stories. the words paint a lovely picture and diversity of characters with very realistic and relatable issues, becoming very self reflective, maybe a tad slow but like life, why should we rush

love the southern tale
very lighthearted. great sequel and I can't wait to read the next book in series, to see how their lives move on. Love novels about the South and the narrator/ author brings the characters to life.
