Part of The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes collection, the story follows Hall Pycroft, a young clerk who seeks Holmes's help after receiving a suspicious job offer from a hardware company. Holmes investigates the unusual circumstances surrounding the position and the motives behind it, uncovering a deceptive scheme.
