Refreshing and still useful
To echo the comments of others, this type of scriptural teaching is simply not taught widely today...and it should be. The chapter on prayer alone, and how to do it properly, was easily worth twice the purchase price. I'll be listening to this one again....wonderful !!!

Not your typical Christian book...
This audiobook deals with subject matter that is rarely if ever covered in the modern Church. If you have questions and you want the Truth (and can handle that), this is a must have. If you ever wondered "how can God be in control of such a world or allow such things?" than prepare yourself for a direct scriptual discourse of a very enlightening nature. God is Sovereign!!!

Salvation: By His will not mine!
This book is a "must listen" for anyone who thinks they have a "decisionism" outlook in gaining salvation. To the Christian who has run accross passages of scripture that draw question to what they "hear" from the pulpit, do give it another examination. This verse will ring louder than you imagined as spoken in JAMES 1:18 OF HIS OWN WILL begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Best book on the topic
Where does The Sovereignty of God rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Good but almost too much great information for an audio form. Definitely pick up the matching ebook to mark it up.
What other book might you compare The Sovereignty of God to and why?
Books by John MacArthur or RC Sproul on the attributes of God or writers like Charles Spurgeon or The Fundamentals of Christian Belief
Have you listened to any of Robert Whitfield’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me worship and understand the God of the Bible more!
Any additional comments?
This book was written in 1918 and it shows - in a good way. No one writes like this anymore. I was thinking that if you could find someone writing about this in 2016 the writing would have to be dumbed down, there would need to be more personal anecdotes, and the book would probably just be one chapter in a book about another topic.
I was originally warned that reading this could possibly lead to being a "cage-stage Calvinist". While I didn't experience that, I could see that type of response come from others who had not been taught such things before.
Pink is an amazing author and builds his arguments well and uses a good number of Scripture to back up his statements (another rarity from today's Christian literature). I thought maybe Pink might cover a topic too much or not enough but he maintains a balance of covering topic well enough but doesn't stay on them to beat the topic to death. He deals with God's sovereignty in a number of areas after he defines what sovereignty is. God is sovereign in creation, administration, salvation, reprobation, and operation. He covers the place for the human will and human responsibility (and prayer) in relation to God's sovereignty. He covers how we should look at the doctrine and the value in it. He even covers some objections, difficulties, and seemingly opposed Scripture. While there were a few verses I would have liked him to go over, I'm sure he didn't mean to write exhaustively on all the opposition verses.
Pink hits you right out of the gate by defending the argument that there is a place for Satan in God's sovereignty and that the devil is God's devil. His coverage of reprobation including double predestination was very surprising and very well thought out. The biggest take away and the biggest piece of advice when starting to read this would be that the thinking should be the biblical truth that God is the Creator and man in the creature. Pink will continue to slap down any attempt to let the argument begin with "ya, but man can...". He does so on purpose as this is his main argument. God is sovereign and free; man is confined and limited.
This book cannot be a read once and done type. This will be a reference and a future read again. I hope young adults will even be given this book as it will help put a lot of things into perspective that many churches and many Christians do not teach or learn. If you have had questions about the scope of God's sovereignty or man's supposed free will, and you take the time to actually look into the subject more than just a Wikipedia article - this book is going to cover pretty much any of your questions. Take your time with it and you'll be blessed with Pink's amazing writing and organization and collection of biblical truth. Final Grade - A+

Pink Pleases Again!
If you could sum up The Sovereignty of God in three words, what would they be?
Biblical, Truth, God-Honoring (OK, I went overboard :)
Who was your favorite character and why?
n/a
What about Robert Whitfield’s performance did you like?
Mr. Whitfield is a wonderful narrator. He sounds like I imagine AW Pink to sound....very convincing. I could tell that he was familiar with Pink's work in the past. Spot on!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No. I just love Biblical Truth and Reformed Theology is what the Bible teaches.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend anything by A.W. Pink!

Required Christian Reading
This is a classic book I return to in order to remind myself of the foundational character and understanding of God as presented in the Bible. One cannot understand the God of Scripture without understanding how ancient Israelis and the first Christians understood God as the supreme, sovereign, cause, and reason behind all that exists and occurs in heaven and on earth.

Not read from the Baker Bookhouse edition
Any additional comments?
I own the Baker Bookhouse paper edition of this book. This audio version of the book is read from some other publisher's edition (dare I say, Banner of Truth [BOT] Publishers), which has been known to take the liberty (as they have done with many of their other publications, unfortunately) to edit much of what A.W. Pink originally wrote, simply because those portions of Pink's work do not suit BOT's theological ideology. This is very unfortunate, and I'm CERTAIN Pink would not have approved of this so-called editorial liberty.

legend! and excellently reading
just perfect. So majestic and God glorifying. will return again to this D.V. This is pure biblically soaked, well explained Calvinism. Not the caricatured rubbish bandied about on some YouTube channels for and against the doctrines of grace! what a treasure and what a suitable reader!

Remarkable
Beautifully read. This book surpassed expectations by the extent that it increased my understanding of the sovereignty of Almighty God. The author artfully tackles the difficulties in comprehending that God is sovereign even when bad things happen. This book can potentially change the way you view your life (in terms of who is in charge) as well as the way you view the world.
