Welcome to the Purgatory Hotel . . . where you must take your test and meet your fate.

Seven floors. Seven trials.

Limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, and violence.

The Purgatory Hotel for Wayward Ghosts is a temporary passing place, and the final test for those who lived middling lives. Passing through your floor fully reformed means going up to heaven, but succumb to temptation, and it's straight to hell . . .

Delilah has successfully completed her test on the floor of Greed, her worst sin whilst alive, and is ready to be taken up to heaven in the rusty elevator that runs through the hotel.

But before Damien, the elevator boy, can press that glorious white button, the lift breaks.

As the number of guests rises, unable to pass through the hotel as intended, chaos ensues. Heather, the receptionist, finds herself dealing with the discontented dead, disappearing ghosts, and a glitching hotel.

Can a rag-tag team of workers and guests navigate their way through the hotel and discover the problem festering at its heart before it's too late?

Recensioni della critica

The Purgatory Hotel for Wayward Ghosts is an unbelievably charming, (after)life affirming story about found family, second chances, and the healing power of duct tape and love. It's the perfect cosy read for people who appreciate top tier dad jokes, riddles from talking cats, or the mind-bending pain of getting a maintenance crew to actually fix something. Even with disaster on the horizon, climbing up the lift shaft with this ragtag group of new friends will give you the same sense of satisfaction as getting into a hotel bed with fresh sheets. Bury me in biscuits from Floor Gluttony; I'm not leaving. (Cassidy Ellis Salter, author of These Shattered Spires)
Warm and wonderful, The Purgatory Hotel for Wayward Ghosts is a fun and inventive morality play about found family and being your best self (Sarah Beth Durst, New York Times bestselling author of The Spellshop)
A contemporary fantasy that blends supernatural comedy with paranormal romance and parody . . . a perfect pick! Nyquist introduces readers to a bureaucratic afterlife world featuring an eccentric cast. Delilah's time at the hotel is one of healing, finding true friendship, acceptance, and love. I enjoyed Nyquist's witty commentary on modern work culture, the often absurd nature of bureaucracy, and family relations (Readers' Favorite)
An absolute delight from start to finish! Katy Nyquist has crafted a cast of characters who are quirky, heartfelt, and hilarious. I immediately fell in love with this unconventional found family and their even more eccentric home. A perfectly cosy story about love and friendship! (Falon Ballard, author of Something Wicked)
Warm, witty, and wonderfully absurd, The Purgatory Hotel for Wayward Ghosts, finds humor and humanity in the most unexpected corners of the afterlife. (Auralee Wallace, author of In the Company of Witches)
A charming and fun read full of whimsy, The Purgatory Hotel for Wayward Ghosts delivers my favorite things: found family antics, a quirky mystery, and ingenious world-building. I love a rag-tag crew and this one had me feeling like I was part of the team every step of the way (Mackenzie Reed, author of I Hope This Email Finds You in Hell)
