Sintesi dell'editore

When a physicist is murdered in LA it seems the killer has no fear of publicity, leaving the body on The Mulholland overlook, a site with a stunning view over the city. And when it's discovered that the victim turned over a quantity of a lethal chemical to his killer before he died, Harry knows he has more than just a single death to worry about. Alongside the forces of Homeland Security, Harry realises he must solve the murder or face unimaginable consequences.

why oh why have irritating music obscuring narration of a BOOK?

I adore connelly's books and want them read aloud clearly, if I wanted music I wouldn't buy a book. Please stop this growing trend of "atmospheric" music on audio books - it is simply annoying.

Music

I am a big Harry Bosh fan. The plots deliver and the writing is slick, but personally I find the music jolts me out of the story. You don't get blasts of sax when you're reading after all.

Short changed

Usual great story, although not quite sure why Michael is turning Bosch into a bit of a joke instead of an ace detective. Marked this down as so short! Feel short changed. Also - lacking continuity. Only a brief mention of daughter & other old characters. Just left me feeling a bit unsatisfied.

Not finest moment

Maybe I should take a breather from Bosch for a while because after reading this one I just feel like slapping him. Regardless of final twist who would hide a witness during a terrorist alert/investigation. Think Harry is starting to disappear up his own backside and that never ends well!

Strong story, superb performance

Len Cariou's readings of the Bosch novels are superb. I've bought several just for this. Handles dialogue immaculately, especially humour. Keeps you listening. One of the shorter Bosch's, with a touch of "24" (the whole case is done and dusted in under a day).

Not half as good of the others in the series

I have been listening to the full series and this is first one that I haven’t liked. The story is much shorter than the others books and as a result, does not contain the same level of complexity that I have enjoyed in the others in the series.

***spoiler***
My biggest problem with the book however is Harry’s character development. In the past we see him as shrewd, calculating and always acting in the best interest of the victim or victims. He was always head-strong but in the pursuit of justice. In this book he is arrogance, pigheaded and actively impedes the FBI in stopping a city while attach. I just don’t like or trust him anymore which is annoying because I was really enjoying this series.

Bit short changed

Great story as expected, and enjoy Len Cariou’s narration. Did feel short changed on this audio book as it’s almost half the length of previous books. Not a fan of the saxophone added in, bit overkill in this overlook book..

Another Good Read

Loved the way this was so unpredictable but delivered the quality all the same. A big fun of Michael Connelly!
