A Parlor Game

There’s always an element of that in Ellery Queen. The difference here is that this is a literal parlor game. As usual, it’s loads of fun, made even more enjoyable with the capable assistance of Traber Burns.

Rare Ellery Queen.

This was a fun little Ellery Queen short story. Ellery belongs to a puzzle club and he has to solve a puzzle about 3 guys who live in an apartment building, they appear to be just 3 average middle aged guys, but one is a big drug dealer who killed an undercover officer, any way if Ellery can not solve the puzzle of who the drug dealer is, he will be kicked out of the puzzle club. Traber Burns does a good job narrating.

A fun 22 minute story.
Traber Burns is a joy to listen to.
If you put your thinking cap on you can guess this puzzle.

Multiple solutions

Another worthy quiz question and Ellery actually finds 3 answers. Etymology knowledge will help you play along. (I hope that doesn’t constitute a spoiler)

A short, Short Story.

Ordinarily, these tales are (in my opinion), a bit long winded and one gets lost in the police procedural process and the characters of the police, DA and the supernumerary supporting cast. With this tale, all of that is hacked away and we’re taken to the other extreme.

It’s therefore less satisfying. It comes across as trite and not necessarily intriguing.

Read reasonably well by Traber Burns - although female voices may well be a challenge for him, hard to tell.

A bit silly

Great narrator as usual, but the story is a bit silly. I would have liked something a bit less like a page from a brainteasers book.
