Does anyone actually PAY for this?

Would you try another book from The New York Times and/or The New York Times?

Do not know

If you’ve listened to books by The New York Times before, how does this one compare?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He should be required, at least, to read through the material before recording. It sounds like a cold reading, as if he has no idea what these sentences are going to say. He does not stumble over words, but his pauses and stresses often have no relation to the sentence structure or meaning. The result is usually confusing, and always aggravating. A real shame, because he has a very nice voice.

Was The New York Times Audio Digest, March 19, 2014 worth the listening time?

Marginally. I do enjoy having a digest to listen to with my morning coffee. Better presentation by the narrator would definitely increase its value. I have never subscribed to the NYT and have always thought I must be missing something. Now I think not. But perhaps these readings are synopses, not the actual articles.

Good, but very abrupt change of topic

The NYT Audio Digest gives a good overview of what is happening in America and around the world. However I would find a short pause (1-2 seconds) between the different sections very helpful. At the moment the last sentence of one topic is spoken in the same way and tone as the first sentence of the next topic with almost to pause, "ripping" you out of one story into the next. I find this very irritating. A short silence in between would make clear to the listener that one section ended and a new section is starting.
