    Suspense at its finest

Really enjoy this short story! Read, re-read and listened to it several times. Very clever, and makes one think differently because of it.

    excellent reading of a classic

Very well-done performance of a classic and still modern tale. The reader delineates seamlessly and undistractingly between Dupin and the narrator.

Wordy and Telegraphs Its "Surprise Ending"

The phony French and English accents put me off, but the narrator has a good voice when not faking the accents.

I like classic tales, but this was a stinker. It was wordy and the author spouted pseudo-intellectual nonsense, trying too hard to sound smart. The writing suffers greatly in comparison with that of M.R. James.

The author telegraphs the surprising element in the story so far in advance that when I arrived at the revelation it was annoying to be right.

Finally, the story was so implausible that it would have been disappointing even if the author had not given away the "surprise ending" well in advance.

This man was far ahead of his time

Edgar Allan Poe is hands down one of the best writers in history. This story is so CAPTIVATING. I couldn't even answer my phone. The narrator does a fantastic job of voice acting. I felt like I was watching an actual movie with different characters. Classic!

Very good old book. Poe was a good writer. Back in his day, he was one of many.

    Superb

Outstanding narration again. It's hard to imagine this genius writer being done any better justice.

    Good liustening

This ius well-presented. My only adverse observation is that it should have been divided into chapters.
