A call to bring back the previous narrator
Would you consider the audio edition of The Morning Read from The Wall Street Journal, February 22, 2016 to be better than the print version?
This is a call to bring back the previous narrator of the WSJ, who proceeded Mr. Alexander Quincy. I have been a loyal Audible listener since October of 2004, and for the past 12 years I truly enjoyed a complimentary subscription to the Wall Street Journal. The selection of headlines and stories, as presented by the narrator, who for so many years enhanced the news by his perfect pitch and the just right degree of skepticism and enthusiasm, has been a cherished start of my daily routine for over a decade.
All that came to a screeching halt with this reader’s (so sad that I never knew the name of the man with whose voice I am so familiar) departure, and his subsequent replacement by Mr. Alexander Quincy. Mr. Quincy should definitely stick with reading the Times, but if there has ever been a narrator ill-suited for the business driven news and often slightly sarcastic, tinged with self-deprecating humor, editorials of the Journal, Mr. Quincy is that incompatible one.
Dear Audible, would you bring back the life, seriousness, and yes, humor combined with a sense that the reader actually understands what he is reading, back to the Journal audio version? It seems anything would be an improvement, but the tried, true and so excellent narrator from the pre-Quincy era would make this devout listener sing in the rain.
