The Fantastical Heartbreaking Classic
Since a child, I’ve fancied this book and it’s depressing yet colorful narrative. Hans Christian Andersen painted the harsh cold reality of the hard times on a canvas ever so enchanting.
This audiobook’s narration shows a flawless performance of The Little Match Girl and it’s unfortunate chain of events.
The only complaint I have is that this exquisitely written short story wasn’t any longer, but then again it’s in the name: “short”.
Phenomenal narrative with a marvelous narration. Highly recommend!

She's Gone to Her Grandmother
The Little Match Girl . . . it gets to me EVERY SINGLE TIME . . . the cruelty, the harshness of the winter, the poverty, the innocence of childhood, the obedient little girl trying her best . . . this short retelling of Hans Christian Andersen's story hit me just as hard . . . the precious little child is cold no more, gone to her eternal home . . . and to her grandmother.

Excellent & Magic
Yes the Little Matchstick Girl caught my heartstrings one Christmas morning as I sat surrounded by my loving family in my warm sitting room
opening an abundance of Christmas presents & there on screen was a beautiful small child with no shoes on her feet & no coat to keep warm as she stood in the freezing cold snow waiting for a customer to buy her matches. All presents forgotten as I watched in awe as this little girl lit match after match to light up her dreams to be with her loved ones.
I felt so lucky & so loved. Thousands of children lived like her up to the early 1900's.
A well read story that will warm your heart.

Lovely retelling of a Classic Fairytale
The Little Match Girl is one of my all time favourites and one of Hans Christian Andersen's classics.
The famous Danish author who gave us the little mermaid and the snow queen, but not the sugar coated Disney versions.
Here we listen to a carefully done retelling of the well known fairytale of the poor young girl.
Her parents don't come across as being as cruel, as here she has only to sell one bundle of matches, whereas in the original she has to face a beating at home, if she dares to return with only one unsold item.
The two boys talking to her, are not part of the original either and I don't remember a policeman finding her at the end, but I felt the new parts worked very well.
Still, the sad wee girl is not to survive the night, but again the part where her grandmother appears is there and beautifully and heart wrenchingly retold.
Excellent narration throughout.

A beautifully written and read short story. Upon listening to it I was transported back to my childhood when 1st told this story. Tamsin grieg compassionately tells the story of this poor sweet little girl, I could actually picture the little her!
