Sintesi dell'editore

Imagine waking up covered in blood - but it's not your blood. The morning paper reports that two young women were brutally murdered. You recognize their names. Pieces of the night before come back to you through the haze. And now you're the suspect in their grisly deaths. Welcome to Charlie's world.

On the run, Charlie suspects a man named Cyris, but no one believes that Cyris exists. Not the police and not Charlie's ex-wife, Jo, though she wants to trust that the man she once loved is innocent. Soon Charlie has Jo bound and gagged in the trunk of his car, fleeing across the countryside while the killing hour approaches yet again.

U.G.H.!!!! Caveat Emptor

Unlikeable Grusom Humans.... U.G.H. -> Such a pity. Paul Cleave's "Cemetery Lake" was so weirdly captivating. I'd called that novel, "Complex. Inventive. Thoughtful. Oh... and dark." So it didn't take me long to download this suceeding story in the Christ Church series.

It took less time to decide to return "The Killing Hour". These characters are DEE-PRESS-ING and the plot did NOT intrigue me. Some time ago I reviewed Dennis Lehane's "Live By Night" and wrote, "...since downloading "Live by Night" I've thrice restarted the work from its beginning, hoping each time it'd fire my imagination. But frankly I disliked every one of the characters in the book. I find them grim and complexly depressing" DITTO "The Killing Hour", a read that Paul Andsell's talent couldn't save.

I still respect Lehane and Paul Cleave's talent. Just hated each of these stories. Maybe you won't? The thing is, I've read other Lehane's and really liked them, I probably won't buy any more Cleaves's.

Caveat Emptor, K?

Loved it

I couldn't stop listening. The many unexpected twists held my attention right to the end.

Hard to follow

Story keeps switching from 1st person to third person and then in and out of dreams making it extremely hard to follow.
