Sintesi dell'editore

Set in the same dark world as his beloved novel The Last Child, John Hart delivers a stunning vision of a secret world - rarely seen - in this unforgettable audiobook.

It's been 10 years since the events that changed Johnny Merrimon's life and rocked his hometown to the core. Since then, Johnny has fought to maintain his privacy, but books have been written of his exploits; he has fans, groupies. Living alone in the wilderness beyond town, Johnny's only connection to normal life is his old friend, Jack. They're not boys anymore, but the bonds remain. What they shared. What they lost.

But Jack sees danger in the wild places Johnny calls home; he senses darkness and hunger, an intractable intent. Johnny will discuss none of it, but there are the things he knows, the things he can do. A lesser friend might accept such abilities as a gift, but Jack has felt what moves in the swamp: the cold of it, the unspeakable fear.

Building on the world first glimpsed in The Last Child, The Hush is more than an exploration of friendship, persistence, and forgotten power. It takes the listener to unexpected places and reminds us all why John Hart, after five consecutive New York Times best sellers, still warrants acclaim.

"The story is greatly enhanced by narrator Jeremy Bobb. No character is too small for Bobb's vocal attention.... A great example of a riveting story enhanced by a creative, consistent narration." (AudioFile Magazine)

Hmm...Good and Bad

I enjoyed many parts of this book but then it spiraled from mystery into very much a fantasy. The Last Child was much better and skimmed the lines of fantasy just enough...This relied on fantasy for much of the plot. If it had been introduced into the story with restraint this would have been a much better book...Towards the end it got ridiculous and then I just couldn't wait for the ending. I do like the two main characters its a shame that this story went off the rails. The narrator was good.

WOW!! Let's discuss thin novel!

First to Audible: Law partner Lesley seduces new associate Jack and based on little else you assign The Hush the genre Legal Thriller? The correct genre is Fantasy: Paranormal and Mystical.

Next: This is the first novel by John Hart I have been able to complete, but only because I considered it a personal challenge.

Finally: The Hush is by far the worst novel I have ever completed.

Best book yet!

I did not think John Hart could top his prior works but he has done it. This story never stops and is rich with character and plot surprises. Absolutely loved it! Waiting patiently for the next book by Mr Hart.....

A must read - enthralling - balanced- poignant and beautiful - without a doubt one if the finest stories ever told.

What happened?

This continuation of the wonderful The Last Child really was a shock to this reader. It’s as though John Hart received an advance and sat down and wrote this in a couple hours. I was very disappointed.

John Hart did it again!

What a captivating book! As has been the case with all of his books, I couldn't put it down.

Profound. Captivating. Magical.

Not surprisingly, John Hart has created another masterful story that grabs you like no other. This story went right to my marrow and made me think in a more profound way about the power of ancestors and family...and something else. You can decide that "something else", but I'm willing to bet you'll be moved and uplifted by the possibility of...well, you'll see. Jeremy Bobb is a perfect narrator. What a story! And, as expected, magnificently written.

Excellent

Love John Hart books. His words just have such a rhythm to them. This story rivaled his last couple of books as favorites of mine!

Excellent book

I'm not sure that John Hart has written a book I didn't like. There are some that I like more than others, such as Down River, The Last Child, and Redemption Road but that is true of almost all authors. The Hush is an excellent novel in it's own right and reunites us with a favorite character from one of his previous works. As always, Hart intertwines a solid story with the literary stylings that make lovers of language want to go back and reread some sentences. In this book he even tackles a supernatural element, but does so in a believable way. Have fun listening to this book. It is engaging and unlike some supernatural works, has a perfect ending that will make you smile.

Not sure why this was in legal thrillers, but...!

I browsed for a legal thriller and found this among the titles. The summary and the length of the reading appealed to me, so I went for it.
Let me say... this is NOT a legal thriller. While there is a character who is a bankruptcy lawyer, and there was a court battle over land, it's really far from a legal thriller. It's more of a supernatural story of power held on and passed down through dreams, of revenge and anger, and of the history of a dark and frightening swamp. It was interesting, and the writing and descriptions were entertaining. I stuck with it until the end because I was interested and it was well-written. Plus, the narrator is GREAT. There is nothing distracting about his voice or cadence.
I'd recommend it, but certainly not as a legal thriller.
