I got into this book thinking it would be the usual queer YA romance, cheesy and unrealistic. I found a moving, honest story of grief and loss, of growing up and facing things that are bigger than one can manage. I found unpleasant characters and true reactions, a mix of emotions, and a serious tackle on mental health. Finally, I found a coherent and reasonable ending, with a bitter taste to it because life is kind of bitter and never just happy, but satisfying in itself. A great YA novel. I highly recommend.
