Some things here haven’t aged well, others would feel more at home in a pulp/gangster novel than in an Ellery Queen mystery (the rough PI, the female suspect), and also some unusual touches in the characterization. The mystery itself is enjoyable enough in its development, in its many twists (including the chase between the two Queens), but there are perhaps one or two too many for the ending to be entirely satisfying.
