Sintesi dell'editore

The death of Mark Twain's daughter, Jean Clemens, occurred early in the morning of December 24, 1909. A few hours later, Twain was writing steadily. "I am setting it down," he said, "everything. It is a relief to me to write it. It furnishes me an excuse for thinking." Four hours later he said, "I have finished it... some day - at the proper time - it can end my autobiography. It is the final chapter." Four months later -almost to the day - (April 21st) he was with Jean.

This is a Mark Twain In Person Audio Library recording, narrated by Mark Twain interpreter and actor Richard Henzel.

Public Domain (P)2011 Richard Henzel

"Henzel's characterization makes Twain seem to be standing in one's own presence... filled with the thoughts of America's most representative author." (Caroline Thomas Harnsberger, author of Mark Twain At Your Fingertips and longtime friend of Clara Clemens)

Heartbreaking eulogy by a father to his lost child

A very touching account of Clemen's farewell to his youngest daughter who died on Christmas Eve 1909. This was the last thing the great man ever wrote... and he died just four months later.

The narration on this Audible recording is perfect.

A melancholy masterpiece

Only 30 minutes long, this is a must read. Touching, heartfelt, introspective, and eye opening as to the inner thoughts of the master Mark Twain.

Twain could have done better.

Heartless and emotionless essay of the loss of a child. I did not develop empathy in this story.

Bittersweet

I got this out of curiosity, not being very familiar with Mark Twain's family story. I'm so glad I did, though I am wiping tears. The narration is perfect; I can picture Samuel Clemens himself when listening. I recommend this!

The Snow Falls

Narrator's voice was perfict. I could listen and think I was listening to Mark Twsin, himself, telling me all fo his thoughts about Jean, whom he loved deeply. It was very sad naritive especially for all who have lost a dear loved one. This book was very peaceful. The author communicated calm that only happens at the end of beloved one's life. One that is loved by God and those who knew her well.
