Sintesi dell'editore

This is the complete Wizard of Oz audio collection of the 14 original stories written by L. Frank Baum. The "Oz books" form a book series that begins with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900) and relate the fictional history of the Land of Oz. Oz was created by author L. Frank Baum, who went on to write 14 full-length Oz books. Even while he was alive, Baum was styled as "the Royal Historian of Oz" to emphasize the concept that Oz is an actual place. The illusion created was that characters such as Dorothy and Princess Ozma related their adventures in Oz to Baum themselves, by means of wireless telegraph.

Included in this collection:

  1. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900)
  2. The Marvelous Land of Oz (1904)
  3. Ozma of Oz (1907)
  4. Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz (1908)
  5. The Road to Oz (1909)
  6. The Emerald City of Oz (1910)
  7. The Patchwork Girl of Oz (1913)
  8. Tik-Tok of Oz (1914)
  9. The Scarecrow of Oz (1915)
  10. Rinkitink in Oz (1916)
  11. The Lost Princess of Oz (1917)
  12. The Tin Woodman of Oz (1918)
  13. The Magic of Oz (1919)
  14. Glinda of Oz (1920)

Meh Narration, Great Collection

I agree that the narration is a bit off, but it’s worth it just for the collection. It has every Oz book by L. Frank Baum, and it has the best overall quality. I’ve looked at a few reviews of other Oz collections on Audible and I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about poor editing, and pronunciation. The only actual bad thing about this collection is that it does not have book and chapter titles. What I have found useful is inserting those through Bookmarks but it is a tedious process.

Such a great deal

I am amazed that this isn't getting more reviews. You can't beat the value and historical curiosity. This was like Harry Potter for our great-grandparents generation. The narration isn't amazing but not a distraction either - and funny at times.

Every child should read it!

It's an amazing adventure filled with subtle (and not-so-subtle) advice about how to be happy and make others happy too :)

Very Weird, but Good!

A great set of classics. I have nothing but praise for all 14 book included here. I had no idea how weird these stories were! They're a must read! I do have two real issues dealing with the recording and organization. The chapters are not labeled by their books and are just a continuous count. But every story is about 5 hours so you get a feel for when the book is near the end, this is only a minor inconvenience. The other issue is that the quality of the audio gets worse as the books go on and you can sometimes hear background noise from wherever they were recording or the noise becomes a bit echoed and distorted.

Narrator so so great

Narrator was not the best. Performance was tedious and slow.
The books themselves are products of their time but also well beyond it with a trans fairy named Osma of Oz and mass ridicule of the suffragettes lots of power over situations are included but generally very whimsical and almost HG Wellian in content

Was Hoping for Better

The narrator tells the story like he's talking to very young children. The fact that this is a children's story does not mean you are telling a story to 2 year-olds. However, I forgot how long each story was, having read them all as a young teen. I was also a new reader to chapter books at that time. As an adult, I think the stories I could get through are really quite boring. My children will not be interested in these tales I think. I know these are richly cultured stories from the beginning of the 20th century, but they are really hard to get into today with this particular narrator.

Narrator’s tone and enunciation are not great

It is wonderful to have the complete collection of oz books.

However, the narrator’s tone is aimed at young children, which can feel off putting. If enunciation is important to you, then you may not care to hear him say“ emeral” time, and time again.

John Waters

I'm pretty sure the narrator is John Waters under a pseudonym. that makes the rather odd narrative style more entertaining to me. my 4 year old enjoyed it and didn't have trouble understanding the narrator.
