Journey and Khalid

This book pulls you in right away. The life of Journey will break your heart😢. I almost stopped listening because the Uncle Vince was molesting her at 9 years old. I truly hate books that molest children. I am a nurse and I have worked with children, that had been abused. I do realize this is a book. But I kept listening hoping things would turn around for poor little Journey😢. The book jumped to 5 years and the only good in her life is her best friend Khalid. His life starts to all apart, his mother becomes addicted to shooting up. His father Joey. Is a hired hit man. He is the best dad he can be, he truly loves his son. The book truly sucks you in because you keep waiting on things to get better. Then the end comes and the end is awful. There is one way out for Journey and Khalid 😭.

Horrible Ending !

please tell me part 2 is already out?? please don't let this book end like this??? The uncle should have been ashamed of himself. I was waiting for someone to kill him & the friends (especially Bunz).

Good storyline. Didn’t care for the reader.

I was a bit disgusted with the men’s attraction to young girls. Yet I know it’s something that’s an ugly sickness that happens in society. I didn’t particularly like the reader. I started/stopped several times because of the reader. I finally got through it because I wanted to know if there was some sort of light for Khalid and Journey. The ending had me shocked though. There should be a part two for sure.

Horrible Writing

The writing style is all over the place. One sentence is narrated and the next sentence maybe in the first person. The characters aren’t developed enough. Performance sounds like someone reading to first graders. I’ve read better stories on the back of a bubble gum wrapper. Don’t waste your time. Free cost me 6 hours of my life!

pointless novel

This took me over a week to listen to and finish, I was so annoyed and frustrated!!! I am not familiar with this author so I won't judge her entire writing style by this one book. The characters are very under developed, there was no cheering for the underdog because we were giving absolutely nothing to cheer for. It was just a simple and very sad depiction of day to day for everyone in the book. There was no plot, it was just blaaahhhh....As for the main two characters who I would have like to cheer for, it was just "life's a bit@#, and then you die..." because that is exactly how this story went. It was just awful. Not awful as in a sad ending that leaves you thinking, oh no..., the WHOLE book was just DUMB and a waste of a credit.

Brutal Coming of age story

This was very different from my normal reads, and very brutal. I find it disgusting when older men lust after children or groom them, yikes! but I felt for Journey. the ending was shocking but that just adds to the brutality.

Journey

This was a good read. Only complaint was I wish the narrator changed tone with characters. Journey had it hard. Vince got what he deserved. I wish the ending was different for Journey and Vince. I need a per 2.

Sad story

Wish there was more happy to the story . Is there a part two ? No justice ? No light at the end of the tunnel?

Very well written, depressing story. I don’t even know what to say beyond that, except I need to not be left hanging; with that being said, if there’s a next one, I will be ready for it.
