A proposito di questo titolo

Adrift in a sky shadowed by war,

We seek, we ache,

Searching for the woman who fled us.

We shattered her heart, but she unfurled her feathers,

Our sweetheart, our little dove,

Escaping our talons on pure white wings.

One of us soars over battlements,

Haunted by past mistakes,

Vowing never to repeat them.

The other storms through walls of stone and hatred,

Eager to destroy the shackles of his past,

Determined to shackle her to him instead. Forever.

Loyalties are torn.

Friendships are tested.

Among the chaos, one claim stands irrefutably:

We will get her back.

She will be ours.

Come home to us, white Raven.

Shadows so Cruel is a full-length dark fantasy romance novel, and book two in the Court of Ravens duet. The two-part story features two morally gray raven shifters, a young woman at the mercy of their shadows, and a HEA. This world contains dark elements, violence, and themes some may find disturbing. Listeners can find more detailed information at LivZander.com. What this book doesn't contain is a hero—because villains do it better. And two do it better than one…

I went into Shadows So Cruel after feeling a bit lukewarm about book one—it took me a while to get into that story, and only the ending really grabbed me. But book two? Completely different experience, especially in audio.

The narrators did a phenomenal job of bringing these characters to life. Their voices carried the emotional weight of each scene so well—grief, longing, fury, tenderness—it was all there. I felt everything, and I’m pretty sure the lump in my throat by the end was 50% because of the writing and 50% the voice acting.

The world in this duet is dark, tragic, and beautifully strange—people turning into an unkindness of ravens is not something you forget easily. And while I loved the storytelling and the growth of the characters, I’m still torn about a major death near the end. It felt shocking for the sake of being shocking, and honestly? I wasn’t ready. I cried at 2am and was not okay. If you're a reader who needs a happy ending, just be prepared.

What stood out to me most was the way the story handled its MFM dynamic—not some perfect fairytale, but a “we’ll figure this out” partnership that felt messy and real. That, combined with the intense emotions the narrators brought to each moment, made this a truly immersive listen.

If you enjoy dark romantasy that leans into pain, growth, and emotional complexity—with stellar narration—this one’s for you. Just… maybe don’t listen right before bed.

Brutal, beautiful and unexpectedly moving

this duology simply could have been a standalone book, second book was absolutely not necessary and I was bored out of mind the whole time! the only good thing about it was Sabien which author decided to kill him!!! whyyy??? only reason that I hadn't dnf'd it was Sabien and guess what! he died in last 5 chapters!! and I'm sorry to add this but narrations wasn't good at all! there was no emotion no act no nothing! thank you for your work but im sorry I wasn't satisfied!
